"At the Tokyo Game Show, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has revealed what the Nintendo Revolution controller looks like. The new controller is a radical departure from traditional controller types. Has Nintendo struck gold with their new controller design? The reviewers seem to think so. It should be interesting to see how gamers react to Nintendo's new innovation." -Slashdot

IMHO they're digging their own grave. There's a reason why consoles are controlled by pads, not joysticks or remote controllers.

Thats looks like a fuckin TV remote! lol :
Agreed with Jaardsi.

Well, This means that Nintendo is going to make weird party-games. No-one will spend long gaming-sessions with that tv-remote.

God...that grave is dug. O.o

No one is actualyl gonna wanna use that to game.

I'd guess they have actually had people playtest it, so it can't be as bad as it looks.

I saw this earlier today, and I wonder; Are they completely nuts? Wtf is that?

Nintendo is trying so hard to be innovational these days, it's like they don't give a fuck about how it works practically, as long as it's original.

They try so damn hard. I've liked Nintendo since I was little, but lately I've started to actually despise them. I mean, what the fuck did they smoke before coming up with that controller? The analog stick is actually on another controller. So we're supposed to use 2 controllers to play now...geez..

I saw that thing last night and I thought to myself "What kind of drugs would make someone design something like that?" Maybe you have to be on drugs to use it :
Posted 18 years ago2005-09-16 13:24:14 UTC Post #135141
Ok, it might be nice for sword and fishing games, sort of like an Eye Toy thing. But that's really not the controller with which I'd like to play a Zelda or a racing game. I dont really care since I wasnt planning on getting that console, and now I'm even more convinced.
Maybe a PS3 if there are enough good games for it. Otherwise it'll just be PC forever.
They will probably have to make a more traditional controller later on, when they see that a lot of gamers will find this too strange.

Who cares what it looks like? Nintendo is going down.

From the DS to the Gamecube, both were terrible.

IMO, nintendo is gonna sell Revolutions, then come up with something else, then file for bankruptcy.

You found the gamecube terrible?

I have it and I'm still enjoying it.

Gamecube is great for playing with your friends.

It rocks! Final!

Yah, its ok for the first 4 hours.

After you get passed "Super Smahs Brothers: Melee" and "MOH" series, its just over...

Those are the games that basically kept up gamecube.

Are you forgetting Resident Evil? That was the best series on Gamecube. Super Smash Bros doesnt even come close to it.

What about the Metroids?
Posted 18 years ago2005-09-16 16:55:10 UTC Post #135164
I actually find Mario Party and Mario Kart the best for playing with friends, regardless of the traditional happy and colourful nintendo style. The 3 vs. 1 battles in Mario Party are great. But it does get kind of boring after a while.

No, it's the real one. I checked in multiple sites.

Gamecube doesnt suck. Neither does the DS. Its outselling the PSP and PS2 combined.

Guys, is it only me that sees the possibilities with this thing? The remote works by simply moving and twisting it around. You can also plug a control stick into it, which makes it perfect for FPS games: left controls movement, remote controls aiming, similar to a mouse. That particular attachment is rumoured to come with the console, so you don't need to pay for it. Also, other attachments (unknown) are planned for it.

Also remember that the Gamecube controllers can plug into the Revolution, and that remote can be turned on its side, NES style (to play NES games, obviously).

Nintendo planned for the Revolution to be accesible to anyone, which explains the controller. Personally, I think its quite innovative and should suit FPS games perfectly: loads better than using a control pad. I definately want to try it out before I buy though. Apparently its very sensitive to movement.

This controller definately intrigues me. Unfortunately, most of you aren't aware of Nintendo's strategies which is why you're mocking it. Besides, how can you bash something you haven't even tried yet?

Well said, Ant ? and I think the idea of having two completely seperate controllers, one for each hand, is neat. Who holds their controllers with one hand?

I don't really like the idea of having 3 or more controllers lying around the house for each player.

Too gimmickly (and ugly).

this shape/build reminds me of the dreamcast controller. Highly under-rated that console was.

Hmm...I think that controller looks awful to be honest.
It may not be just a tv remote, but using tv remote for gaming = Impossible, and fair enough, if you have that controller to plug it into, then it is possible, but the controller looks terrible.

And I agree with jaardsi.

And personally, I think the only game I'd like to come to other consoles (xbox/xbox360 Ahem) is the F-zero series.
I loved that on the N64, and it looked sweet on the Gamecube, but that is the only good thing about gamecube me thinks.

I think Nintendo is gonna be going pretty soon to be honest, even though I like them from the N64, which I still keep in my house and play when friends come round, but I think the launch of the Xbox360 and PS3 are just going to destroy them.
And I think Xbox/xbox360 are going to come out on top, as more and more people are moving towards xbox as...well, it is just simply better.

But I can't say how it is gonna happen with PS3 and Xbox360, as I obviously haven't tried them.

But me thinks Nintendo is gonna go pretty soon. :

The only things Nintendo were good for were

1. Zelda : Ocarina of Time
2. James Bond : Goldeneye
3. MarioKart 64
4. Super Mario

The rest was pretty appauling

Ohh shut up, i think it is neat, if you get the shell it will play like an old system, with the light gun feature still. So that is one up on the other systems. If you don't like it don't buy it simple.

Conkers bad Fur Day - N64
Posted 18 years ago2005-09-17 14:08:43 UTC Post #135277
wth did that come from, conkers?

but i do agree with the smoothness, they should have made it more like the analog stick adapter.

Fun Fact!: Did you know Nintendo was the first to introduced the analog stick. Then 10 months after sony revised their controller because of the revolution. Stupid Sony, get your own ideas.

power glove, Gameboy camera, DS, they actually did invent the dance mat, but didn't realease it or it didn't do well.

Nintendo has always been inovative, lets just hope that this works.

Damnit, am I the only coherent Nintendo fan here? :(

Nintendo are extremly innovative: they came up with a lot of stuff that's being used today. The dancing mats, for example, were made for the NES and weren't released widely, but they did well in Japan. Most of the stuff that Nintendo invents isn't released outside of Japan, so we don't know about most of it.

Don't forget the rumble pack. There wouldnt be a Sony Dualshock without that one. Although the dualshock is a bit better imo.

Back in the 16 bit era, I always found the Sonic games much more entertaining than SuperMario, so I had a Sega instead of a SNES. With the next generation, I used to play Tomb Raider and racing games, and Nintendo didnt have much to offer in that area. When the dreamcast, ps2 etc. came out, I was actually hugely dissapointed with the graphics, because there had been rumors that it was life-like. All of the consoles had serious aliasing issues, and a computer fitted with a good geforce or ati (even a geforce2) could do the job better.

I have a couple of friends who are huge Nintendo fans, so I can still get to play Zelda, Mario Kart, Mario Party and other good Nintendo games :)
