I pretty much have a lot more time on my hands now that im rich and unemployed (kidding), so I decided to make a mod using everything I know about HL1 mapping. Although my overall mapping skills lack the quality of most of the members here, I do understand how to create a great game.

Heres the storyline:

Out in the uncharted regions of Xen, a small transport vessel maps the many floating platforms. Gordon Freeman is mysteriously picked up by the ship, as he is found on a random floating terrains of Xen.

The ship finds some abandoned land mass, as is custimary in the bizzare Xen region. This one, on the other hand, is much larger than any of the other ones they have ever seen! As the ship coasts the surface, searching for any sign of life, the Xen barbarians spring a sneak attack on the ship.

The xen platform literally catches the ship in a trap by shooting a long pole throught the middle. As it stays, stuck in mid-air, the aliens board the craft and kill anyone they find.

Now, Gordon must escape the xen forces and get back to the Alise, the mothership of the human fleet in the area. He must warn them of the large xen forces that prepare to attack. This would be the first attack by the xen monsters since the origional catastrophe of Black Mesa Research Facility.

The humans did not believe that the aliens could communicate and strike efficently. Now, their mass eratication of the species might be put to an end, but only if Gordon doesn't get back in time.

this sounds very fun :D

god, i love original ideas..

and i can really picture jumping from the wrecked ship onto a descending xeno-pole and looking at the damage from the outside. if you pull this off, its gonna rock ass.

if you need and human_grunt voice acting just ask me.

I've already finished the small model of the ship.

I'll be copying star-wars method by having the camera move toward the ship instead of the ship moving... This way my lights and effects will.. well.. have the same effect.

The only thing I would need help with would be modeling the crew of the Alise. I'm not too great with models, nor do I really know how to create another monster.

Pretty much, I would need the scientists in uniforms, like the officials of the ship, Barny needs a super cool HEV suit since he'll be your sidekick through this thing. The Grunts would obviously need black HEV suits, as they would be on your side, but the only way you would see them is from behind glass as they shoot aliens (Or get demolished by an invading Gargantua).

The first part of this thing is gonna be the hardest. The movie sequences, then the escape from the ship. Everything else will be pretty easy, and I'll be able to do it by myself.

Once you finish, We'll see if I change my mind ;)

I finished the entity and brushwork of the first movie sequence.

Now I need to compose the music, and do the voices.
I won't be able to do that til February, so Ill just move on to the "BANG BANG" part ;)

I would be happy to help with voice acting, I have a very decent microphone and a set of walky talkies which make for awesome "over radio" effects.

Well, I'll probably do most of the voice acting. I probably will need a totally different voice for a few of the characters though...

I only have a few, so thats good...

Dr. Johnson (Slick) (Dies in explosion, but has a short speaking part)
Lt. Greer (Einstein) (Also dies, has a larger speaking part)
Dr. Harold (Glasses) (He survives. Has a large speaking part)

Barney - Im doing him
G-man - Him aswell

Ship (Yes, the ship has a voice. Generic Female voice.)
Grunt Communication (As I heard form the example, you need to try and mimick a deeper voice if you want to do this.)

It'd be great if ya helped with that. My mic is broken right now, so I won't be able to start on it till I, well, buy a new one.

Tell me who ya want to do, and Ill send ya a script and time restraints.

BTW, I will do ALL mapping.
Otherwise I cannot name it "BrattyLords: Alise"

Obviously, if you help, Ill put credits at the end, and Ill give you each 1% of the profits ;)

I question the shape of your ship, how big is it? Estimated crew count etc. It looks ok but its not like any type of vessle I have seen before. If it were a space ship I could understand but Xen has atmosphere and therefore wouldnt it be better if the ship was streamlined? Plus it just looks cooler that way. :)

Nice to see work is progressing.

All that spaceship needs is some better textures. Even the biggest block of concrete crap can be turned to sumthin nice, by texturing it right.

Different textures to stress the hugeness of the ship are important, yes, but I think also small details will add to the feeling greatly. Right now the shapes of that mothership look very blunt and rough.

You only see this onefor a few seconds though, so I don't see why I should put that much detail into it.

okay...

I decided to make another ship since my first really does look like shit...

I've come to a tough spot...
I want some input on how to do the main body of the ship...
Keep in mind this is NOT the mothership, just a smaller one, the one that picks Freeman up.

Im not sure what to add next. Should I continue it, making it get larger outward, or should I narrow it down flat and add wings.

Should it have wings? Its a space ship, but wings would look nice...

EDIT: oh, BTW, you see that section on the head that looks like it should be glass? well, it will be. Thats the observation room...

The controls to the ship are in a big computer room... not overlooking the battlefield.. cause that would be unintelligent and stupid for the human fleet to do...

(Lets put the controls right in the front of the ship so we can see everything!!!

even when we use cameras anyway!!!)

i wanted to do something like this. your on a massive space station that full under atack from space fighters and frigates.
the section your in get a hole blown into it sso as to stop the entire ship decompresing the ships computers started shuting all the airlocks so you have to run and duck under one just in time.
the only thing is as a good frigate would be 10,000+++ units long hl didn`t like it :(
but anyway i`ll like to see how you get around that :)

leave it how it is now and it could be a ship thats been destroyed and the front part broke off and drifted away. :)
how bigs the mothership going to be(i don`t exspet something as big as the one in homeworld and homewrold2 (the windows are just like a dot at closest zoom)
i think it should be longer(the ship in your pic) and have some kind of ion cannon at the front and some smaller weapons along the side.
make it blast an astoid to bits that was in it`s way :)

Looks awesome, much better.

Needs: Sensors array, Airlocks, stabaliser engines (all around so the ship can turn, this isnt a fighter jet), Some form of weapondry, perhaps a shuttle bay?, engine vents (perhaps), Landing gears or stilts, a name and a flag (HMS/USS Scout or somthing like that), Escape pods (maybe, or hatches for them to launch from), End needs to be squarer, no point having the end going into a fine point (also leaves somwhere to have some weapons), perhaps if you just cut the square bit off, and extended the cylinder like part in the middel and then added a ramming pannel or somthing (so it looked a bit more like this; http://paizo.com/image/product/catalog/GAW/GAW10-08_360.jpeg ).

Errm, thats all I can think off, other than the obvious "texture it" :)

Still 1 important question that will determine where I go with this...

Wings or no wings?

(This is the ship that will be impaled with the xen pole... Should I make part of it break off and fall, or have the entire thing just stuck in midair??)
