What is a good mod I can download and play? Something with a length like Manke's They Hunger or USS Darkstar. I also don't want to download a 20 meg zip either. I'm really in the mood for playing HL today, but I want something new. So any ideas?

I was a HL mod reviewer once.. :D

The first suggestions here, I think you already have played.

Day of defeat
sven co-op
Neutral selection

What do you want, SP or MP?
Sven co-op works as SP too, but, you have to start a server but you could always make it LAN.
Sven co-op has many great maps. :)

Heart of evil is a good, and extreamly weird HL SP mod, I recommend it.
I've not played it a lot, but, I did try the beta. :)

Mike and Pete's Fun Half-Life Sound Pak is a must download. These guys know how to take the tension away from Half-Life and make it funny.

Also, try Azure Sheep. That's a pretty good one, although it seems like a Blue Shift clone. There's also Point of View where you get to play as an Alien Slave (or Vortigaunt, whatever you want to call them.)

If you can't find a mod to play (or don't like these ones), I recommend downloading RandMap v4. This thing generates playable maps for you to waste things in. It makes them in three styles: Indoors (which I don't like because some of the doors won't open unless you noclip) Outdoors, and a mix of the two. It's not very linear, but it's a good time waster. Playing 10 of these maps is usually enough for me.

and if your in the Mood for a nice HL2 mod, let me recomend the new MINEVRA: Metastasis. its really good, but its episodic and only the first episode has been relesed. (it will still take you an amount of time to play through though

For multiplayer fun I recomend :
  • Vampire slayer
You can play a vampire that each got a speceal ability.
Or be a slayer and shoot that bitch cough vampire.
  • Science and Industry
Play and see.
  • Team fortress classic
the fun maps, get your skills up!

Hmm, I recommend Timefall or minimincus or whatever, if you haven't played them, they are pretty good mods. :)

Yes, I have played timefall, minimicus, POV, and I'm not looking for MP. You guys' mods should hold me off for a year or so, thanks for the recommendations!

Check Ten Four. In HL's top days it was a great review site and it's even still running. There's a lot of SP mods covered there.

Don't forget Scientist Slaughterhouse. Sad the guy hasn't updated it in umpteen years.

One of the greatest SP mods ever,
Poke646.
I played it a while ago, and now I found it on that site Captain P posted.
Great site Captain P, I'll have big use of it. :)

Here is some info about it btw, http://tenfourmaps.telefragged.com/php/review.php?gameid=hl&levid=poke646

Azure Sheep is a bit old hat now, the mapping isn't exactly fantastic (I hope I'm talking about the right mod...).
