Ok well yes i have a new idea.

And yes i know what some of you are thinking like that i never get anything finished or that im a real bad mapper and so on.....
But this time its differnt because im alot better at mapping and im more orgonised and i have alot of ideas.

Heres my idea:
Well its a mod and it will go like this

Chapter 1, Black mesa topside: I don't think anyone has really done much like this chapter it has the houses for the people at black mesa like the ones at the start of blue shift, and you will have to get to the train to go to work

Chapter 2, getting to work: This is the train you take to work everyday but to day is diffrent because you are late for work and well you are in the train when gordon is in the test chamber and as you notice what going on the trains rails break and you fall along with the train, when you hit the bottom you get knocked out and you stay like that for a few days.

Chapter 3, wheres the exit?: As you wake up you notice that you don't know where you are and really what happend that well so you try to find the nearest thing to a phone and an exit to get out but the closest place you get to is a lab, a high security one witch was meant to hold capured specimins and the power has been cut.

Chapter 4, familiar places: You made it to your office area , but its mostly caved in so youll have to find a way to get around all of the rubble.

Chapter 5, Mmmm food: Some how you wound up making it to the big cafeterias of black mesa, i wonder whats for lunch?

Chapter 6, almost there : You made it to sector A ,One more step to get back home but its abandond, Where did everything go?, whats wrong? Is there something really big comeing up?

Chapter 7, home sweet home: You made it back home but whats waiting for you? You have to make your way out alive.

So thats really it, Now to get to the part where so of you guys come in im going to need around 1-3 people for each chapter a modeller and someone who could make me an ai for the models

I'm going to be drawing up the maps on the computer so who ever joins me will have an idea what ill need

Rule of thumb: media before recruitment. Pretty much anyone can come up with a story.

Yea, Seventh's right..
Imo, all of them Black Mesa-ish mods kinds suck. Even Azure sheep (which is a great, big mod with new wpns, enemies, 11 chapters, lots of maps with good architecture) got boring after the 3rd chapter.
Believe me - there are thousands of such mods. I wanted to make something black-mesa-ish myself when I was a starting mapper, but I soom realised that this won't be original.

If you wanna make such a mod and expect ppl to play it - it has to be something really special, because the whole Half-Life-disaster-aliens vs. grunts vs. gordon theme just isn't original and gets boring pretty soon.

Another mod? : Start with minimods.

My first finished map is my compo entery, try starting with compotitions and then move on to full sized mods! ;)

And hunter I never saw your precios little mod? Why wont you finish it and then start showing off with it. Anyway you forgot it's muzzleflash's,grag's,saco's mod too.(sorry if I forgot anyone)

The story line is Pwnd by thetraitor mod's story line only one problem I aint got that model... :nervous:

That guy with the closed H.E.V suit. Those guys are going to be guardiens of a high security prison that gordon is being captivated in. :tired: I wanted to them to have an egon and a few more weapon but urban left at the last moment. Now I'm going to be the modeler...after I'll master modeling.(I've past the bigginer tutorials)

:) Why make it a mod? How about an old-fashioned multilevel HL package? Tell the story with game_text fade-ins/outs and camera sequences.

With the story you outlined, just about everything could be done in Hammer without the need of modeling or coding.

Ansith...

You need to first come up with a new idea... expand the plot of the story... not just "oh looky... This is the disaster from yet another point of view!"

see... Where I did good was... mines on a spaceship :)

Why not make the player trip out instead of get knocked out? Like, have the guy get stuck in Candyland or something. You could make it funny rather than clich? and/or boring.
