right. i got this map that has a big setup at the start so it goes black 4 a while n text comes up then it fades in. problem is, the trigger auto is completely ignored n wen i try a trigger_once it freezes!

plz help cso i refuse 2 start lighting a map till its bug free n completely finished n this is the last bit of entitying i need 2 do.

try making it over again, probably too big with too many things in it. to many entities, or somethin.

Sounds like your're triggering things too early: The game has just started, and the entitys are not set up by the game yet when you trigger them. Try adding a delay of 1/2 a sec before you trigger anything and see if that fixes it.

JB's right...
Depending on what you want to trigger, the level fadein normally takes about 5 to 6 seconds, the entities are initialised prior to this, so try giving your trigger_auto a delay of 10 seconds, and waiting around to see what happens. The if it works, just reduce the delay till you get it right.

NOOOOOOOOOOO. its a map i started a while ago. s a lil thing that takes place just after u... well after the nd of hl. i wont say it cos theres ppl who dont know of the ending. all right freeman leaves bm n becomes a chinese scrotumologist.

right. i set the trigger auto 2 10 second delay, n after 10 seconds the screen goes black n hl freezes. i think its summin 2 do with the fade im usin, its not the normal fade in cos its not long enough. its got a hold of 10 n fade time of 2.anythin wrong with this?

don't make the stuff trigger right at the start, put the info_playerstart in the air over the triggers, or put it in a different room, and when you open the door and walk into your first room ,trigger the stuff you want. not exactly shure what your problem is (but you have many ;) ) could you be more descriptive and tell exacly whats going on, and what your map is?

its a test gman gives u 2 make sure bm wqasnt a fluke (sounds pretty corny now m typin it!). at the start hes supposed 2 tell u sum stuff while its all black then it slowly fades in.

make the player start in a totally different area, a box, Isolated from itself, have it fall into trigger_onces and trigger what you want, and make a camera so you aren't just looking at the inside of the box, after that, make a level change that is delayed, or a teleport, this way the character cannot interfear with our ugly feind, the G-man.

check ur vid drivers... maybe update them if open gl... or try running software mode... a lot of the time... problems with rendering like that are caused by the game engine or the video drivers...

and actually... thinking bout it... if the game is freezing when it fades... i dont think the problem would lie with the next trigger... try removing the other triggers and just letting the level fade in by itself... that way u can isolate whether the problem even lies in the map entities...

yknow what, i give up. im not sayin the help u gave was bad cos uve all helped plentiful. but i just cant b bothered. ive got 2 many maps 2 make. if sum1 else wants it then ill send it 2 them.
