You all wan't to eliminate spam? Then perhaps eliminate the "General Discussion" forum.

And then do you know what will happen? 50-80% of the people here will leave, because there isn't enough interesting mapping questions/issues/etc. to talk about. I check the "HL1 Design Questions" first, every day, and every day there is NOTHING in there.

And on the rare occasion when there is, it's most likely ridiculous to even attempt answering it, because it's just some stupid/lazy person that wants to be told how to do everything.

And great job Mods, on immediately closing the "Drink..." thread as soon as I started the my flame session on *The Member Who Shall Not Be Named*--which I'll admit now, wasn't the best way to go about it.

That thread had 90 posts--in a relatively short time--, and everyone who is complaing about spam in subsequent threads, posted in there, including TMWSNBN.

I'll admit, not the most interesting nor informative thread, but fun. Did I learn anything from it? Not really, except what the members here like to drink, and that "blueberry juice" exists--Thanks, Satchmo--, oh and I guess that not everyone knows what Kool-Aid and Dr. Pepper are!

So that's alright, it's closed, and of the 20 legitimate other threads that are still open, most of them have an average of 15-20 posts, and nobody's posting in most of them anyway.

So what's my "point," for all of those looking for one?

If you don't like a thread, don't post in it. Ignoring stupid threads is the easiest/fastest way to kill them. Anything else is just adding to the mess.

Also, I agree that rampant spam exists here, but with decent topics/questions/issues continuing to dry up, what else shall we talk about?

We could always start another religious argument thread, that would attract attention :).

Yeah just don't post if you say spam as you spam by saying spam which makes you spam so stop spamming!

I agree, TWHL isn't as lively as it used to be, even Snarkpit is dying...

Yeah, I remember when TWHL was a bit more alive. Now it's almost dead, sometimes dead. If it weren't to andy it would have been dead all ready. :tired:

It's very strange but I've got an award and I don't think I deserve it. I always forget to comment on maps and it takes me too long to finish my tutorials. Thats it I'm finishing them now! :nervous:

As for spamming, I think it's bad and it shouldn't be encourghed(I spam too and it's bad) but when people start saying stop spamming, ohh, another useless thread they spam themselfs. I myself try to stop spamming, sometimes when I really want to say something offtopic I think a bit then copy it to the PM then delete it for I understood that it's stupid to do it.

The religions thread was easily the best ever on TWHL.
And TWHL isn't dying. On the contrary, it's attracting more people than, um, when I joined. You can tell by the incessant post of stupid threads.

Rowley: The drink thread was stupid. No one cared about the other posts in the thread. No interesting additions were made. Everyone just added their post, trying to make it more interesting than the previous one. Same goes for all these stupid "What [are/is] [you doing/your favorite] [item]".

Who said his last login was 2? years ago? :P Since his last login is after I registered and I've been in TWHL ? year before I registered I believe there is a fair chance I read some of his posts. :glad:

In case any of you didn't notice, I did ignore most of the threads for a VERY long time. I'm sorry, but I've simply had enough.

Bless me Father ... for I have spammed.. ;)
Posted 18 years ago2005-11-24 15:18:43 UTC Post #148821
Actually, the number of spammers here at TWHL isn't that much..

A spammer is someone that's anoying and brainless and post a lot at the same time.

Poeple like Jimmi are one of these so called "spammers"....

The reason why we talk so much about spam lately is because of the stupid and dumb threads lately, some not knowing they actually make these threads. 4thgen for example..

If the amount of interesting threads raises again then 50% of this so called spam is gone..

Of course, there will always be spam, but that's part of the internet..

Besides.. There is a difference between "funny and good" spam and "anoying" spam..

(Man, i'm so bored for writing this..)

I agree, something is making most of the threads here just not worth the time to read :/

Again, the reason why I haven't been posting anything etheir.
