I was just recently looking at the back of my HL box, and the creatures have shadows??? Why are there shadows in the screen shots and not the game? Somebody goofed.

They were written out because they looked bad most of the time. If you have a very old version, you can turn them on again... I think they were taken out in 1.0.2.0.

Correct. The command was something like r_shadows 1
The shadows were not dynamic so they were very pointless.

Yes, indeed. You can also see a vortigaunt with a shadow in the installation of bleushift.
