I have been here for a while now but i haven't really gotten into mapping at all, so yesterday I finally decided i was going to start mapping..

Anyway my question is:

Is there any way to make terrain more rounded than with the displacement technique?

I want to make a map with two very large hills that people can walk up and down on but so far I haven't got any terrain that is very rounded. Basically it's to abrupt and doesn't seem like my idea will be very feasible, or look good....

btw. I am a n00b at mapping, don't laugh.

Just go with displacements with higher power values, or use more, smaller, displacement maps.

If you're going for very steep sides, a vertically placed displacement, aligned with horizontal ones, might be a good solution.

Cool, thanks....

Does anyone mind if I make this my questions threads, because i dont want to spam the forum with threads on all my questions and since I'm pretty new I may have quite a few questions.

Not really. Just ask a mod to change the name its title thought.

On-topic : If you put the radius higher you displacements will get smoother. ;)

Keep it to a thread per subject, that's easier to manage. Otherwise you get subjects running through each other, that's more confusing.
