I would like to submit an idea that has probably bounced around before but I'm not sure. I would like it if you guys ran both HL and HL2 contests at the same time simply because not everyone has half life 2, such as me. Now I'm sure people that have both will complain and say that they will then have to split their time between two contests. But think then of how people, such as myself, who only have half life are not only inconvenienced but completely shit out of luck when a HL2 contest rolls around. For those that will complain about splitting time between both I would suggest that when you get stuck on one entry you hop to the other and keep things flowing. It's just something I thought I would put out there because it bummed me out to find the new contest being for HL2.

The competitions won't run simultaneously, and, with the present code, I won't start new competitions before the results of the previous ones are posted.

You don't have to map for competitions only... if there's no-one around, just start a map of your own. It's for fun, not for competitions primarily... 
I won't join any compo soon because of time constraints, but I've got a HL2DM map in the works which has been well-received on playtests so far. That gives me more of a kick than winning a competition.
Not that having two compo's running at the same time is a bad idea, but for now it's just not going to happen, so, let's make the best of it.

The competition "Real World Reconstruction" began on October 19th 2004. There were no new competitions (not even HL2) until March 13th 2005. I think people are capable of patience in this site. Specially if there's a reason for it. The HL1 is 'map from base', and that map doesn't come out of thin air

The HL2 compo is a good compo, if you don't have it then wait till the HL1 compo comes out.

habboi I like how you tell me the latest HL2 contest is a good contest as if at some point I suggested that it wasn't. On the contrary I think it's sounds like a badass contest. It was never my intention toput it down in any way. As for waiting for the next contest that's kind of why I wrote this post to begin with. My idea was not having to wait for one cause there would be one of each. When I read your comment I'm not sure that you even read what I wrote to begin with. That's my long winded response to you habboi and thanks everyone else for letting me know two contests at once won't happen and to be patient :D........................:(
