I just came up with this idea while i was making a map for sven coop and mabye an idea for a compo type would be make a map with only a set WAD say like the person who Won the last compo could make up a WAD or choose an existing one they have and make the people entering the compo only use that WAD and no others, Its just an idea but i thought it would be a good one.

There aren't enough guidlines there.

Someone could just retexture one of their old maps aswell...

The entries would vary too much to judge properly...

OK well say if you had to make a certain type of map that has to have something in it and you have to use the WAD that is chosen.

its a good idea, but maybe instead of including a custom .wad, why not just say you can only use textures that have TNNL in them, or lab, or some other keyword for a texture set in the standard HL wad, and you can use ZHLT.wad for the null tex and such? save on bandwidth.

you mean like everyone can choose a wad that they wanna use or that everybody has to use the same wad for exemple everyone has to make a map and only use simpsons.wad

It's a nice idea all the allowed textures will be in one wad that will be downloadible at the compo page.

well, both william and elon, what i meant was that out of your standard Halflife.wad, you can only use the TNNL textures. so you would probably have to make your map with a tunnel theme, or find a creative way to use the textures. I don't particually like the idea of having to download a wad, being on dial up and all.

A custom .wad file could do, Elon. Restricting to the halflife.wad wouldn't really be a good idea, I think, but providing a custom .wad could be a nice compo idea.

Yes thats another way of doing it.

I'm sure if anyone ever chooses to do a compo like this (if alloud to do it) they will let you use some kind of liquids wad ,even if its made by them or the origional.
