2005 has been a truly fantastic year for music (If you hadn't noticed). We have started to see the almighty intranets smash the might of commercial record labels. First with The Arcade Fire early this year, then with the Arctic Monkey's on an even bigger scale with their single reaching the UK #1 with no marketing whatsoever.

So, Comments aside : what made your musical year, and who are the ones to watch for 2006 ? Rules : 5 tracks, 5 Albums ; does not have to be ordered.

Albums of 2005 :

The Arcade Fire - Funeral (Debut)
Bloc Party - Silent Alarm (Debut)
Spoon - Gimme Fiction
Eels - Blinking Lights And Other Revelations
Franz Ferdinand - You Could Have It So Much Better

Tracks Of 2005 :

The Futureheads - Hounds Of Love
The Arcade Fire - Rebellion (Lies)
Bloc Party - Banquet
The Rakes - Retreat
Arctic Monkeys - I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor

Most Promising For 2006 - Arctic Monkeys / ?Forward, Russia!

Actually this year's music sucks in my opinion! All the bands I like are long dead, even if they still make albums they suck. And the live ones suck too! I meen band like rammstein or black/death metal bands that don't know how to play and their songs have only one kind of beat and it doesn't change all along the song, just loud noise. As for other kinds of music... I hate those kinds too. Rap has hardly any music, pop's music sucks and rock sucks too, all the good bands died long time ago.

"I DONT LIEK ANY MUSIC GENRE LOZL"

Ignorant fool. There're excellent bands/songs in every genre, no mattery what kind of music you generally enjoy.

Hmmm... I dont know, I am not a big follower of music, we did have some good songs this year, but we get that every year. The fact the bands that did the good songs got recognised is a different matter.

Way I see it, Music is all about the moment, some bands (usually older) get good recognistion (sp) all through their career, others get one or two good albums out and it all goes down hill. System of a Down is a perfect example, the first two albums (especially the first) were awesome, after that it all went to shit and they went commercial (IMO).

Every year has good music, just the music industry has got its act together (to make money, no doubt) and populised all the "good" stuff.

Meh, my 2 pence.

The Killers-Hot Fuss Limited Edition

Nickleback- All the Right Reasons

Btw, is bloc party any good. Not to popular over here, the only time I heard about them was on weebls-stuff.com, when he was making fun of them.

2005 fantastic for music?
The mere existance of Ashley Simpson ruined all possibilities for a good musical year.

Actually I rearly hear anything exept that sometimes I listen to motorhead's first albums. As for that beat, I heard someone listening to some horible death metal in school and it had that crappy beat! Boom boom boom boom.... I hate sodoms new albums too, they became much worse then they were in the start. I'm not such a music fan at all.

Lets not argue about subjects like "The band that you like are worse then mine" for it's really dumb. Everybody got their own taste in music.

Disturbed sucks donkey.

SariBous: I was actually gonna list Stormbl?st, but I wasn't sure if it was its own album or just a rerelease/mix cd from the '96 version of Stormbl?st. Good stuff, nevertheless.

The White Stipes : Get Behind Me Satan, SoaD : Hypnotize and Test Icicles : For Screening Purposes only are also brilliant albums. Check out Circle. Square. Triangle. by Test Icicles, its quite fantastical.

@Loffe. No it isn't just a remastering, it's a re-recording of the old album. I think they did a good job, the production on the old album sucked utterly.

yeah it's a good album, the song stormbl?st is fucking bordering on epic on the new release imo
