Most likely, you have heard of Jonathan "Fatal1ty" before.

He's the legendary gamer who won more than $300,000 a year from CPL championships. He's the best of the best. You'll never want to fight him in a deathmatch.

However, he's gone mainstream now. His story was featured on "60 Minutes", a CBS news show in the United States. There's a snippet in the show about a seven-year-old deathmatcher who won more than $2,000 in prize money, dueling against adults. I thought that was most amazing.

You can watch the show segment online.

.. heh.. I was thinking bout the same thing.. :glad:
7 - yr old, eh? Impressive. :o

Although starting to 'make a living' from gaming, when you're only 7 isn't the best idea. He'll most probably end up with blood cancer or some other shit once he's 15.. :

or become a druggie by age 18 if he isn't supported by the gaming community and more importantly his family.

Really, I hate this whole "progamer" stuff.
And Fatal1ty isn't that good - he sucked in Quakecon '05.

There is always a bigger fish.

Somone might come allong with a certain style of play that can beat him, and then the same happens to him, and then the first guy beats him again. Well done on him for winning 300k, but its nothing "amazing" its just good gaming.

As for the whole "pro gaming" thing, I think it's a bit naive. You won't be the best foreve,r and what are you going to fall back on when you can't win any tournaments anymore?

Play for fun, not for money

i would say get a life to him... but if I got 300000 from gaming... who cares?!?!

You can say the same thing for any professional sports.

Those professional football and basketball players either become drug addicts or criminals once they retire. They have no real-life skills that's useful other than tossing a ball very far.

But football and basketball don't upgrade every 3yrs.

atm it's CS, but what are all those "pro" gamers going to do when cs isn't played in tournaments anymore? Start all over again and suddenly find that they suck at the new game.

And sports is different because of the money involved. A successful soccer player who play for a few years at the very top, has enough money to live a good life without ever needing to work. You don't get that kind of money in E-sports.

$300,000 would last me three, maybe four years if I were to make it one year. its alot of money by most american standards.

profesional gaming won't have the retirey syndrome if its run right. If the pro gaming leauge company sets up a pention they would be fine. and, good gamers all tend to be geeks, and geekdom means that they have some computer experience. many of them might end up working as consultants for the gaming companies, or a beta testers, or some other menial job in the gaming industry.

hes right about the athlete thing. If bowling and rifle accuracy are considered sports and their participants called athletes, there is NO WAY that gaming cant be a sport.

I do rifle. no matter what you can argue, its a sport. and no matter what you can argue gaming is a sport. and anyone who plays a sport is an athlete, whether or not its a physical sport.

enough with the Kthx Cpt. Obvious. We all know Fatal1ty branded stuff generaly sucks.

I have never heard of anyone who actually bought anything from the Fatal1ty brand.

I wouldn't say that he sucks. If you have seen the demo movies, he has incredible reflexes.

7 year old, wasn't that lil' poison, or is he 6? About pro gaming, I don't know, competition I guess, I have no problem, just like football, baseball, racing, cheerleader competition(tell one of them it's not a sport). I mean, do I like most, sports? Not really, but owhell.
