Do I need to make path_corner entities to get the hostages moving because when I make my map and try to use the hostages, they won't follow me. Do they need the path_corner entities?

No, not path_corner or info_node.

You have to generate a navigational mesh. Source hostages use the mesh, just like the bots.

Just type "bot_add" from the console, and wait a long time for the mesh to be automatically generated.

Erm, you do need info_nodes .... without info_nodes, hostages aren't going anywhere! Satchmo, you surprise me!!!!

As far as I know the nav system replaces the node graph with info_nodes. Both the bots and hostages should use it now.

Well, as a test, I just deleted every info_node from a small CS:S map I made ages ago, and recompiled it.

Suddenly the hostages won't move ;) But bots still work.

So, unless I am somehow a total idiot, you need info_nodes for hossies, but not bots.

This data is required by Bots and Hostages in Counter-Strike:Source, allowing them to "know" how to move around in the environment.
Straight from the horses mouth. ;)

When you load your map, bring down the console and type "nav_generate". This generation of the navigation mesh can take a little while, so be patient. After doing this, try running through the map with bots and hosties.
