I found a phone on the street in the middle of nowhere. It's pretty sweet, the only problem is the battery is dead and the screen beneath the actual clear plastic is cracked. I need to see what's on this phone! How would I go about finding out what's on it? Is such a thing as like a cord I can plug into my computer that like transfers data? it's a nextel i836 phone.

Yus, get a SIM-Card reader. Most of them don't even need a computer, you'll be able to read all the data off of there.

Think about the moral issues involved in this though.

What moral issues? The phone is trashed, and you can't really have any personal information in one. I'm just curious about the phone itself is all..is it repairable? etc.

the correct response/lie would be
"i just want to be able to look for a number marked 'home' or similair, so i can return the phone"

Yeah there are special SIM storage type cards that let you store the information on PC's although this type of software comes with the mobile phone...

sim card readers (for any sim) are bout ?10, and are little calculator looking things that you can 'bckup' your sim. atleast you can use it for more than one sim.

Come on, if you found a usb thumb drive in the woods you wouldn't be curious what's on it? Same thing.

Thanks for the links and info and such.

What? He blatantly masked himself, mugged her and stole it, and will now return it :D.

...and she'd be so grateful that she would just take off her clothes and sleep with him?

I'm not going to return a phone that doesn't work. DIdn't I say the screen was smashed? I have no idea where it belongs to, and I'm pretty sure he/she doesn't want it back. I'm also sure the police could care less about someone's broken phone.
