Why when I do an ambient_generic, it won't play sounds? I need always to put a button triggered to the sound, I checked the tutorial for it and it's really good they talk only about background and i dont care of that. can any help me?

( When I thought I would never ask anymore question... :cry: )

if i were you id do the full tutrial. I also sometimes skip parts in a tut because i think theyre irrelevant, but its easier for understanding if you read the whole tut and do what it says

Read the whole tutorial. Background sounds are just any sound.

Ah! Ok I found something else, I didn't know there was flag in the properties. :zonked:

Omg please tell me step by step because I tried and tried everything i can do with ambient_generic to play a sound but it wont never works! I looked and looked the tutorial of ambient_generic here and they tell nothing else than flags! Flags do nothing! :cry: :zonked: :cry: :nervous:

Place ambient_generic in a room in your map.
Open up properties.
Go to flags and tick / untick these:

Play Everywhere: If this is just a sound that you want only in that room untick this. If you want it to play everywhere you go tick it.

Start Silent: Untick

Other one I can't remember...erm...Well whatever...

You only trigger it in CS:S maps cause the map remains and doesn't re-play the sounds. You can use triggers in DM / HL2 maps for explosions or random bird sounds.

Maybe you just can't hear the sound..Strangely I have some sounds in my Dedication map that are really quite that you have to turn the volume to full...And yes I assigned it to max volume in properties.

Have a logic_auto send an OnMapSpawn output to the ambient_generic, with PlaySound or LoopSound or something.

I just fuking understood nothing... I tried everything like a fool I watched if the flags were always ok, but never tell wahtever on the 3rd thing on the flags. Not for nothing it's wrote "Is NOT looped" with an high NOT IS NOT LOOPED!!!! It was just that moron thing! :aggrieved:
