Are you making a cs or hl map? HL doesnt have snow so you cant have snow walking sounds.

Ehh there is a file... Lemme look it up.

HERE! It's called "materials.txt" in cstrike/sound.
Its kind of obvious what you have to do, add a line containing your wad and the texture, then the sound.

but what if I want to let other people play on my map? must I give the "materials.txt" with it then? or is it auto install or what?

Worldcraft dude... Look in the completed maps vault. There's plenty of cs mappers around.

I think so. Shame, but there you are. Try making sure your texture has "snow" in the name and use the original ma.txt, just might work.

well....I have this:
N snow
N A_Snow
N znow1
N snow2
N snow2_
but the upper one "N snow" doesn't give the others the sound that I need so I had to put 'm with it

I make maps for cs. Sometimes :

Are you sure you need another materials.txt? Mightnot the sound be inbedded in the .bsp(like with a lights.rad)?

I want snow in my map, and I can't get a WAD from the map "de_survivor" so I have to put these others in...

The lights.rad isn't embedded in the BSP, only its results: the lighting. All that lights.rad is used by is HLRAD.

To respond to the cs mapper thingy. Yes, I know there are plenty of cs maps/mappers, but everybody else hates them.
