so i followed the directions from half life begginers steam section, and he makes it as i have the half life cd, but what if i bought it from online? i extracted the gcf files, and placed everything i need from the steam folder and i always get the error " could not find filesystem dll to load"
anyone know how to fix this?

I think that happens when you auto-run the map? Just luanch it manually. Then again, maybe I'm wrong about that. Tell me when the error occurs.

Ok... I'm having quite a bit of trouble understanding all of this. I'm not sure I get exactly what you're saying, so maybe I'll just wait for somebody who knows more about the error to come along and help. I think I used to have the same error you're getting, but I can't really remember how I fixed it.

if you have WONHL, set up your config to run with WONHL (non-steam)
so that your hammer is looking for .wads and game directories not in the steam folder.
Compile your map and find it in the half-life/valve/maps folder, copy it, place it in
steamapps/<name>/half-life/valve/maps.

I always find compiling with steam to be a pain in the arse, so just compile with WONHL and copy it over.
