Its the same for any other modern game, not just Source. People who bemoan the use of props are just silly.

Let's hope there's some innovation in terms of gameplay, otherwise its just gonna be the same crap with ultra pretty graphics.
Nah, it's the same shit as always. I've watched a few trailers, but I must say they're quite breathtaking.

Kinda sucks when you have zero artistic skill. :(

Yeah...

So hard to map something good these days, you need to be able to do almost all the positions in a regular mod.

It's very good to know how to:
Create textures
Make sounds/music
Model
And sometimes, code.

Old mappers that just deal with the map editor are quickly becomming antiques at this point, IMO.

Working for four dying mods really helps ;)
Oh I'm sure with some experience you can make detail like that...I guess money helps to boost the amount of work you put into it.

Well seriously, using only Valves textures in Half-Life 1 doesn't exactly give you a huge range of options either. The fact that the textures are so low-res that you can't determine what you're looking at probably helped.

Fact is, games TODAY support high-res textures, high poly models, dynamic lighting, etc. Yes, you have to work harder, but hey, that's how life works, sugar.

Oh and Crystalman, we established that on page 1.

I wish I knew the names of the kinds of owls. There are so many names in my languge. One for the ones that skreik, one for a part of the whole family that consiste manly of small kinds of owls, one that I don't know the diffrence between it and regular owls and the regular owl's name.
There are more names for owl species in my languge...

Jester, it is fake. Look at the hand. It's a bare hand of a child which is probebly a computer nerd's hand. If it was Hl3 then they would have used a grown man's hand.(it's not that smooth and usally has hairs on it but there are more ways to see it's a child's hand)

I don't believe that computer games will be able to exectly fake realty for atlist another 4 years. Hence this is a picture, not a screenshot from Hl3.

what the fuck, Watson?

Crysis looks to me like the compilation of all the little things that make HD graphics nice. Nothing really spectacular. A good example is the PS3 and its potential, or even the Wii. The Xbox 360 will have its own short-lived generation before the next 2 systems come out.

As far as HL3 goes, source is a grade of HD graphics. If they do make a engine all new for HL3, it's gonna pwn. Alot. Hard. HL3 will probably look similar to Crysis.

ya rly.
if there is a hl3 its gonna be sick. but yea i can see it now.. coming november 2008...

then its delayed to '09

then my computer cant handle it

then photorealism makes a leap and hl3's engine is obsolete.. we all know where this is going :|

Umm, no.... Just no... The announcement of Halo 3 is enough to make 360 stay in the lead.

PS3: 600 dollars ! LOL
