I just played this good adventure/horror game called Penumbra.
Its kinda like Doom3 but looks like FEAR and you have no weapons.
Its more of a puzzle game / demo.

The engine was home made by a team of 4 and its quite impressive.
Check it out, its worth a play!

Is that a mod of the source engine?

Why'd you pick the worst screenshots of the bunch, cyanide? :P

The graphics and physics (watch the trailer) are very impressive, for a home-made game. Too bad the awful (what it looks like, anyway) level design and texturing makes it look so bland.

From the trailer, it seems like the whole game is played with a flashlight in black environments, and that's pretty shit. Probably won't try it, tbh.

I like the bumpmapping, but the texture design does not wrap, meaning the transition and pattern are visible on the texture.

Just played it.

For a home made game, it is awsome. The areas, despite being a bit bland are really immersive.

What I don't like however, is how it ends. It just, ends.

Fun fact: I was looking through the game files, and I noticed it used the same buzzing flies sound as Half-Life! I can only assume that it's not the only one.

These comments are quite reprehensible, stop saying everything is bland and actually play the fucking game

Yeah, well, I played it a bit, and I can confirm most of the comments here.

It sort of feels like they made this really advanced HL2-ish engine with lots of neat effects and then handed the mapping over to some uninspired n00b.

I found the same fly sound used in "The Sims" and Half-life.
Jim, srry allready said that, and Orph even quoted it in the post about yours.

READ BEFORE YOU POST!
Looks like a pretty advanced game engine, bumpmapping and all. But i agree on the levels, they look bland and boring. :/

they aren't necessarily the same, while its entirely possible they bought the rights off of the sound producer I wouldve thought in most cases its coincidental based on the fact its the same sound being recorded

A puzzle game? Thats all very well, but one screenshot shows a monster on the verge of leaping at you. How on earth do you fend them off? Does it challenge you to a game of cribbage or something?...

So how do you actually fight the monsters? Or do you just run from them?

From the little I've played it, you just have to run from them, but they move REALLY slow.
