A little singleplayer map I began working on a couple days ago. I've not yet finished roughing out the storyline but I can tell you it will just one map and that it will based in a ?combine? structure somewhere on Xen. I can also tell you that you will be revolving around this shaft for only 1/3 of the map. If I
ever finish it I'll definitely release the source to it as I've found that has helped me out the most so far in my short time as a mapper.

Looks cool but... If those are Natural Selection textures and you dont release the map for Natural Selection you could be sued :o

Sued? Why would he be sued? They aren't that mean are they? :(

The textures are Shaderlab's Majestic textures. They were used in SE so I believe I can use them with credit.

Also I've already added in some custom code for physics (thanks to SysOp) that allow for bodies to be blown back and moved while dead. Some other minor things too.

No, not ragdolls. I recorded this demo last night just for show. I realize it's insanely dark but it was much brighter when I was ingame.

You can't get sued for using their textures. Natural Selection is a free game and the textures that come with the game are sitting right there for the whole world to see.

But by that logic, people could steal textures from demo software and such because a demo is released for free and the whole world has access. If there's an agreement that you have to accept to view and utilize the content (no end-user license exists for NS, to my knowledge) then they can't sue. If you have to read and accept a complete license agreement then there's probably something in there about IP rights and content usage, and since you presumably accepted that contract to get the content, you could technically get sued. Very unlikely, however.

They just dont like people using their textures ;P - I find it kinda ironic as they use a bunch of shaderlab stuff and such.

The first shot feels wrong in terms of lighting. A very bright sky and an almost pitch-black shaft... better would be to let light stream in from one side, creating interesting shadows, and using artificial light sources down below.
Otherwise, for what I can see, it looks ok. A bit standard Shaderlab feeling - it seems everyone that uses these textures adapts the same architecture style - with long, broad corridors and such, so you may want to deviate a bit more from that. Perhaps adding some machinery here and there, and finding a more defined lighting style - those blue default HL light textures are ok, but I think they aren't the best to fit with the Shaderlab texture set. Hmm...

And of course, up the brightness some more. Usually, bright area's are more inviting to play (or at least, that's my personal preference).
