there's like a zillion! - the best way if trial & error, everyone can post their favourites, but in the end, only one will really take your fancy - it a time like this, I usually try over 10 programs....

.... but here's my contribution, CoolEdit & WaveLab (steinberg)

neither are freeware, but does that really matter nowdays!

Sound Recorder can record sounds coming from the computer. Mess around in audio -> recording options.

sound recorder can record sounds only from your pc, in most modern sound cards theres an option to set the recording input to 'wave', audigy cards also have a 'what you hear' which is pretty self explanatory.

You can also do it from the windows sound panel by selecting the options menu -> properties -> select 'recording' and click OK. Now whichever thing you select the checkbox under will be the recording source.

Regarding software, goldwave is one of the better (and cheaper) pieces of software ive come across. I used it for all my custom sounds in maps.

45 freakin' dollars?!?! I'm not paying that! Oh well, that's what the internet is for, so we don't have to pay for stuff. :glad:

Goldwave and Audicity are both extremely good.
And you can record sounds on your computer with the default sound recorder. You have to set it to record "line in" or "wave out mix" instead of the microphone. But please, use Goldwave or Audicity or something, not the default program.
PS: I'm not a broken record, fools.
