I bet EA games (and computers over all) hates me.
I recently made a thread about that I couldn't install Battlefield 2 without getting "can't copy file errors".
However, I could update the game (even though it was broken) when I had that error.
Now, I've changed my DVD-player, and installing from DVD works fine.
BUT!
Now, UPDATING doesn't work, what the hell?
That worked before, how can something like that just stop working?!
(I am still talking about battlefield 2,, updating an other game might work, but also, other games are boring ;D )

The error I get is simple.
"Failed to update",, or something like that.
No numbers or codes.

What I did:
I tried to update over and over again and I noticed that the file that failed to update changed from time to time, and after a while the update went all the way through the updating proccess - "Updated succesfully".
So I thought "FINNALY, after 2 **** hours!"
So I opened battlefield 2 and loaded in a server, and when it's done loading it crashes without any error and leaves BF2 and suddenly I'm back on the desktop!

Updated successfully my ass!

I have two questions.
1. Why me?!
2. Do you know how to fix this? If so, please tell me how. :)

When you update, is this a button, or feature in-game you click on to start an "auto-update", or do you download the new version from a website? If it is my first statement, then try googling "BF2 patch/update (insert patch version here, ex. 2.01) Download it and install like that.

On a side note, Ive have always heard BF2 was full of bugs, so dont feel like your the only one :)

Nah, I downloaded it from fileshack.
The thing is, I have a server, the server is connected to two computers in the house etc..
The update is on the server.
On computer 2, BF2 works fine, so does the update.
I haven't encountered a single error!
Oh, and here comes the good part - that computer isn't mine.
So there isn't anything wrong with the update file,, I think.
On a side note, Ive have always heard BF2 was full of bugs, so dont feel like your the only one :)
Well, BF2 has been bullshitting me here on COMPUTER 1 since christmas!

The update tends to do that.

Go to the EA Support site and search for it. THeres a solution.

Thanks Luke, I'll have a look. :)

Edit:
I signed up, but I can't find it.
Could you link it?

Edit 2:
If you mean THIS, then - no, that is not the problem

Free space:
C - 9.15 gb
D - 105 gb

They also mention that the updatefile might be corrupt.
Well, it ain't
1. Worked on Computer 2
2. Full update 2.1 doesn't work either.

Well, looks like your only choice is to make a source mod to emulate BF2. Maps, models, sounds, hardcore coding, the works! Its the only option left :(

It happened to me and i think this worked.

Okay, I'll try that too.

BF2 isn't installed on C, but on D.
(and if that isn't the point then: )
I just formated my whole hard drive! :'(
But I guess, doing it one more time wouldn't harm it.
Well, if absolutley nothing works I might format it.

Format C:. Re-install windows and all your applications. Use Active@ Killdisk to completely wipe the hard-drive (removing all partitions). Remember to backup the files you want.

Bah. Fine, remove the first sentence and move the second to the end of my previous post and it works.

I will try re-installing tomorrow.
If that doesn't work, I will start thinking about formating
