I've just got into making fractals with a neat little program called Apophysis. It's pretty fun to be able to create complex, nice-looking shapes without any skill whatsoever - the image editing itself is mostly random.

So, in this thread, post your fractals and whatnot. Here's a few of mine to get you started;

Apophysis and tutorials can be found at Apophysis.org. Enjoy.

Thats so cool! I made one of 'em my background. I think I'll give it a shot.

nothing beats the Mandelbrot set, I remember playing with that back on my amiga 500! Took flipping ages to render it though

It's interesting to see that everyone has his own preference as far as favorites go.

It's kinda hard to fail with fractals, they all look so cool :D

Thanks for all the random praises and stuff, but I'd really like to see more people's fractals!

Come on, try out the program for awhile and show us your best.

My favourite is the last one. Looks a bit like a seahorse.

Well, since you want to see some fractals, here's my best one so far: http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h96/Boxtop_2006/birdfractal.png

Yeah, I know, it sucks.

No, not bad really.

It's just a bit too dark, I think.

I actually like the blue, its a nicely different approach to it than a lot of those firey-red ones. Not that the firey-red ones are bad ;) . It looks almost like a bird; nifty :P .

I'm going to go try making some.

You can easily adjust both colours, brightness, saturation, contrast etc. from various menus once your fractal is done. Also check the "mutations" window, to see if any of those look cooler.

Blended two fractals, adjusted them a bit and added some planets. :glad:

That looks eerily like your avatar, Daubster.

It also reminds me of HL1's Xen, for some reason.
