This mod will basically tell the HL story as if Freeman never shut the portals and the aliens got out of Black Mesa, and onto city streets across America and eventually the world (hence the title).

You play as Geoff Burns, a lawyer who lives in a quiet suburb with his wife and 12-year-old daughter. On his way home from work one night, he gets into a car accident and suffers massive head trauma which sends him into a coma for 2 weeks. The doctors tell his family that he may never wake up again.

But, as you can probably guess, he does (it wouldn't be that fun to play as a guy in a vegatative state). He awakes to find the hospital in ruins, with all the doctors/patients killed and hideous creatures roaming the streets.

And it goes from there...

Some screenshots...(these are from a small section of the first area, the hospital).

the chair in the last one needs to be fixed.

and for a first pass at a map its rather good, lighting needs to be tweeked and details need to be added in some of the spartan areas

Texturing is horribly off. Look at the red little light in the second pic.
Also, you should use texture lights to light up your map.

Texture lights = light emitting textures.

The lighting needs to be fixed? I was trying to make it darker than usual, its supposed to be more horror-themed than the original HL, and I figured the dark shadows/red lights would add some atmosphere.

And every light you see there is texture based. I didn't use a single point-based light in the map.

Muzz, i'm ashamed at you. How could you think those were point lights?

Ah ok.

Well, maybe you can do something about the light from the TL tube, final pic. Looks a bit weird.

Tip: You can use Fit to fit a texture on a face. Do this with your red light texture, the computer console, the computer screens, on the second pic.

Rest looks neat. You don't see many singleplayer maps/mods these days anymore. :)

Keep up! :)

Looks spooky.

Note: Would be more frightening with programmer monsters.

Thanks. :)

I'm gonna need some help with this. If you can code, map, model, or anything inbetween and you would be interested in working on this project, please contact me via PM.

Also, as an opening sequence I'm looking to do something similiar to the part in Apprehension when you are captured and there is the sequence where you are being dragged down a hallway with the camera panning back and forth. It would be more like a dream sequence though. If you know how to do this, or can direct me to a tutorial, it would be greatly appreciated. :D

Sounds like a cool idea. Unfortunatly I can't help with that part though.

The maps look pretty good for first ones..
I'd just suggest displaying that intro status text in parts, not the whole thing at once. (Like in HL1's tram ride)

Anywho - it's looking pretty good..
Keep it up. :)

Please let me know what you guys think. :)

Looks neat. :)

But i'd change the ceiling texture, you're using a brick texture which is usually used as a wall texture.

If you turn the TL tubes into func_wall, you'll gain better lighting.

Like I said when I commented your map. Some textures are off, and now that I've seen more progress pics, well, texturing is awful. Do you know how to use the 'texture application mode'?
