it is awsome.

It was better before i skinned the second barney. You make 1 barney follow you, then all of a sudden bullets fly. look around and 2 barneys are having a bitch-fight. its hillarious

video of the hilarity

Laf. You cant kill barney, you silly bear

Now that you've nailed the ceiling structures, are you going to modify the floors a bit? The upper parts of the screenshots look so good that the floors feel empty in contrast. Some trims around the pillars, or maybe just one of those Black Mesa Laboratory logos would look cool.
Posted 17 years ago2006-10-03 18:02:41 UTC Post #198414
Yeah, the broken ceiling supports are awesome, really atmosphery. As Kasperg said, though, the floor needs some attention.
Posted 17 years ago2006-10-03 18:23:25 UTC Post #198419
Some more contrast on the floor yeah, either through lighting or with some trims or marks. And some crack decals on those pillars, at the 'knack' point. Their absence is noticeable - it's like a connected surface while really it should look broken. Add the details where they count.
3d shot shows an impressive hall, those pillars look nice. I would, however, alter that pipe somewhat: add a fence around it and some grating in the floor below it. Looks more cautious and convincing that way. The staircase could use a railing too, they're so convenient. ;)

Other than that, looky good. :)
Posted 17 years ago2006-10-04 04:21:48 UTC Post #198446
Good tips from you guys. :) Ill consider it.

Any ideas on the trims? What texture should i use which also fits the theme? I don't want to add to much to the floors, its still just a hallway, no lab.

Maybe some lines marking paths would do the job. For extra good looks, you could choose a different lab floor texture from the same set for the main pathway.

Looking very nice.
I agree with the others, the ceiling looks very good in those latest screens, and the general level of detail is great without looking generic or repetitive mostly. Some paths on the floor like Kasperg mentioned would really make it shine too.

The busted pillars in those screens look a little odd though because of the trim part of the texture at the bottom, and it i could use some crack decals. http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/1854/ideais1.jpg

Other than that, it all seems much nicer and you've still managed to keep it accurate. :)

What the hell! slaps

I actually kinda like that lab floor texture. What if i was to take that same texture, and make a darker version of it, and use that as a marking path.

I think that'd work fine, seeing as it's kind of what Kasperg did in his example image and that looked pretty promising.

Look great, 1 problem is the main crack decal you've used would usally be used on the edge of walls, It just ends and it doesn't look too great.

But other then that its great :D

Now good luck with the rest of it. I wanna play it soon :D
Posted 17 years ago2006-10-04 21:50:48 UTC Post #198561
The floor path looks great, and the pillars are looking nicer too. I agree with Ansith, the crack's on the walls look a little odd where they are, and the decal is kinda repetitive when overused. I'd either remove the ones from the walls, or just replace them with different crack decals (there are a few others, aren't there?).

Hmm, the more i see this, the more i want to play it! :glad:

work on monster placement, and maybe some scripting for them.

but im just being negative, it looks really good.
Posted 17 years ago2006-10-06 04:00:09 UTC Post #198685
@ Ansith and Strider:
You're right. I overused those cracks. Ill add a little more variation.

@ M_Garg:
All the monsters you see in that pic have a script. See that monster_zombie_barney (:D)? He is supposed to knock over that computer mainframe thing. So don't worry, there are many neat scripts here and there. :)

I really like the look of those screenies, just remove the cracks on the walls (Where they look like cheap duplicate side-ways trees) and it will be great :)

I liked the broken pillars especially the cracks there fit perfectly :D

Edit: Oh, and if you replace the wall cracks.. Make them start from somewhere, not just making a crack in the middle of the wall. As in, make one side of them start from the ceiling or something.

Well the normal uplink part is going great (Really Really Really Great!) But I have one question, How will you extend it? And how long will it go for after the ending of the normal Uplink part?

The Original Uplink made me want to buy Half-life, I would really like to see what happens after the Garg Battle (Its not by the Original maker but it still adds to the sory of the uplink levels which is great) Even if its only a small part I'll be happy, I just want to know what will the general Idea of the next part?
Posted 17 years ago2006-10-07 15:22:01 UTC Post #198813
HL:UE will have an extended garg scene (it will not end when the garg approaches the player). The player will actually travel a little bit further (he needs to take out the garg and move on). Eventually the game will fade to black and the message "Will be continued in version 1.2" appears on screen.

In verion 1.2, the story continues with 2/3 additional maps.

Hope you're ok with my plan. :)

Im having a bit of trouble with certain bugs i need to fix. Its gonna take a little more time. I also have to add "EXTENDED" to the title menu. And of course a final compile of all maps.

Sorry for the delay.
