aight so i just got back from the departed and have a couple of questions (its ueber confusing). its a good and recomendable movie (especially to those who love gore) but isnt very easy to understand some minor parts:

IF YOU PLAN ON WATCHING THE MOVIE THESE QUESTIONS WILL SPOIL IT FOR YOU, so just watch the movie and then perhaps you might even have some answers :D

1. the two woman who get shot on the beach ("She fell funny"), was one of them the waitress from the shop? (have you had your period yet?)

2. The white haired guy (from the mafia) who gets shot by the cops at 344 wash street and later dies on the couch, was he also a undercover-cop? Cause he told William he found out that he was the rat, but why would he tell William that? It'd be more logical to tell his usual buddies?

3. Was Castello really an FBI informant or was that just a high guy speaking?

4. Why did sullivan shoot the second mafia-rat in the elevator headshoot-out

5.The police cop who shoots sulivan in the end (loving the showercap shoes), did he find out that sulivan was the rat or was he just very pissed off?

6. whats the name of that sort of irsh jib song they play when sullivan gets rid of the two police cars following castello prior to them getting busted?

P.S: The showercap shoes ninja is the shit =]

I thought the movie was great too.

My thoughts on your questions:

1. No. I think Costello's girlfriend later in the movie is the "period girl" from the beginning, but I could be wrong.

2. Yes, I think that guy also was undercover, else, why would he have not told his buddies if he knew who the rat was? So too, I think the commercial where you see the funeral for the undercover cop after he dies is real, and not a ploy to protect the real mole.

3. Probably the most pivotal question of the whole film, and intentionally left unclear, but I would say he was.

4. To tie-up loose ends. He setup/killed Costello when he learned about the informant thingy, and after that, that guy would just be a liability to Sullivan.

5. I think that was information in the letter he left to Sullivan's ex-fiancee.

6. I dun remember that bit of music. Check IMDB for the complete soundtrack/score credits. They're usually flawless about crediting everything, no matter how small.

Superb movie. I loved it :)
