My first map was a cs map, one texture. The map was a huge hollowed out box... And inside the box there was this block floating with a blocky arch and some water. Fullbright, one texture and one spawnpoint. :nervous:

Mine was just a hollow box with a light inside.
I also carved a hole in the box and made a way out.
The outside was filled with grunts and an ospray, but the map crached after adding an ospray so...

My first map... let me think... dear lord I don't believe I remember it. :nervous:

I think I'm begining to remember... didn't manage to compile back then and I think it wouldn't be playible anyway. I don't think I even knew about the texture render mode.
It was a hollowed box with a wall dividing it to two rooms. There was a door connecting between the two sides of the wall and a few broken pillars in one of the rooms. All was textured with a radioactive waste texture which is, how shall I phrase it... original!

My first map, HERE IT IS!:

http://twhl.co.za/forums.php?action=viewthread&str=de_household&type=1&pg=1&id=11386

It would not compile because I didnt use NULL, and intersected brushes all over. It had custom textures and everything!

Pretty good for a first map :)

well, my first map was a tiny hollowed room. I used (it think) the tutorial on first rooms. I was so happy at my tiny, un-moveable room :) (thats to you 'Andy'.

Stop whining! Yes I did notice it's 2 years old and I'm certain other but you noticed, but what diffrence does it make? Non at all! If people want to discuss it and the thread was already bumped then let them post here, no need to repeat reminding everybody that the thread was bumped.

My first map was a hollowed box with light source in it.
Must be the only map I actually finished..

I'm to much of a perfectionist to release a playable map.

Il try to make a REMAKE of my old HL1 map.. to HL2.. Actually i was in a were house and a lots of creates and zombies... a ladder and some desks.. and i got some trigger's too!

Would be nice if we all went back and made our 1st maps playable.

My first map just will take forever to compile. Like maybe 2-3 days.
Plus I really should go through making things func_walls, using NULL, etc.

Its too bad too. It really had everything ready to go. wadinclude, set up, layout, etc.

I think in the future Ill remake it in source just for fun.

Yeah, I'd like to do that.

This was my first real map. The first map that I made and released to the public was no longer around, because I removed it from my profile and it was stored on a HDD that ultimately crashed.

It had two rooms, with several cargo containers inside. There are some headcrabs in the first room, and there is a zombie and a Garg in the adjacent room.

Lighting wasn't too bad, and I had env_sound in it too. It was a Half-Life single-player map.

I still remember the thrill of compiling it and playing it for the first time. It felt like a first kiss.
