Hey, what instruments do you all play?

(If anyone plays the guitar please instant message me (yellomoto128) or email me (davideo59) because I am thinking of getting one and taking lessons for it and I have some questions.) :D

i play guitar - not very well tho. lol how musical we all are. I wonder, is there some strange psychological link between mapping and playing musical instruments.

I play violin, and have been playing for almost 5 years now. I have been concert master on a few occasions, is in the JYO (Great orchestra) and am concert master of the QCYO. I play in the Austin Trio and am the 6th best violinist for my age in my state (None of yeahs bueisness!).

I can play Jazz violin, classical, and some CDB (INcluding "Devil went down to Georgia)

:D

I assume you mean electric versus acoustic right? My first guitar was an acoustic. This is good to practice all your bending, all the hammer on and pull-off work. Why? Because if you can get it half decent on an acoustic, when you switch to electric, bending and all that is a breeze! Thats what I did anyway...

They have an electic violin, its really cool cause you can distort it to make it sound like any intrument you want, like you'll be sitting there and say "I think I'll play picalo today" and POOF! PICALO! (Although I wonder why you would want to play picalo)
Posted 20 years ago2004-03-30 22:40:56 UTC Post #20882
Piccolo (not kidding)
Posted 20 years ago2004-03-30 22:43:01 UTC Post #20883
And to answer Bratty's question. I play piccolo because PICCOLOS RULE! No they are not a "girly" instument. Thats a very bad misconception. Just because they branch from the flute (Which I played for 2 and a half years before switching to piccolo) donesn't mean that it is "girly"....... AMEN BROTHA!

I play guitar. I think there is a definite connection between mapping and music. In music you have to put all the right notes together to make a song and you add your own style to make it unique. In mapping you put all the right brushes together and also add your own style to make it cool. I can picture Gordon Freeman playing a wicked guitar solo. (Although it's somewhat difficult to picture him playing a wicked piccolo solo, heh heh!) ;)

someone make a model animation of gordon playing the guitar and i'll pay to put it in a map!

Well that one at the store by us is 280 - and thats on sale, I would but its a little out of my price range... im hoping to bid on this one for less $$$
Posted 20 years ago2004-04-03 01:01:36 UTC Post #21107
I still wouldn't bid or buy a guitar from ebay. Go to a shop and try out a guitar! How are you supposed to ascertain the quality of a guitar from a picture? I got a new guitar recently (Epiphone LP Special II). I tried it at my local music store though to get the 'feel' and sound of it.
