Hi. Im tottaly new to half life (and playing games on the computer in gerneral). I brought half life 2, and half life 2 ep 1 for the pc, both from ebay (second hand) i heard that half life has some kind of special account which only lets you download and play onto one computerm (im not really sure) but what i need to know is can i still install half life on my computer?

Why, then, are you on a 3D Level Design site?

About your problem, I'm assuming you mean Steam, in which case just install the games and Steam should install with it. Although, if the previous owner activated the reg key included with the games, then your screwed. The serial number can only be activated for one account.

Athlete: Stfu..?
About the account thing.
You can't use the same CD-key in several accounts, but you can use the same account on different computers, so if you wanna LAN like, Counter-strike: source - just use the same accounts on all computers involved in the network, and install CSS on that account on all computers.
Works fine.

So, you can install your game on severall computers - as long as you do it on the same steam account

My situation: I have brought half life 2, and half life 2: ep1 from ebay. (both are pre-owned). I have heard (i haven't got them yet, so i haven't tried, and someone only told me after i had won and payed) that when the game is installed onto one computer, it cannot be installed onto another (something to do with registration number). Thats about all i know. I want to know if i can play these games on my computer (multiplayer as well) and if not, what i can do about it.
Also, the guy who sold me half life 2: ep1 gave me a password and account name, i dont know if this changes anything.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dude, you might just have been fooled.
I mean, has the games already been used???

So he gave you a password and an account name.
This information is used to log on to your steam account.
have you got steam?
Get it at www.steampowered.com

Download steam, let it update - and then log on using the username and passwork (if it works... :P ) and then try to install the game

Rule number 1....

I suggest you try the games, see if they work before you throw them away

don't know if you can now and I don't have time to check but I seem to rember reading (about 2-3 years back lol) that if you send valve proof of owner ship (pictures of the box and cd keys ect)+ $10 they will let you reregister the game. But that was b4 HL2 was out and may only be for the HL games that can run without steam but need steam for MP and may not even be availeble now.

In the future, don't ever trust people selling games on E-Bay.
Fix'd.
