Dirty Apple software! I stick by my Fiery Fox. I guess I'll have to test designs in this now, though, bleh.

I like how they say Opera has the slowest performance...Even slower than IE. They must be right :

May i also note that Opera had 6 tabs and IRC open in that shot, wheras IE had one tab.

Haha, dude, well, there's your problem!

I have Firefox open and it uses 90 mb! Thats bad compared to iexplorer and opera. No tabs, only this TWHL page.

Still, i keep using Firefox.

90 mb.. That's a tad much for a web browser, especially FF. ;o

Mine's taking 42. It's a hog.
Then again, I have quite a few extensions.

I use Opera at home.

I've used Safari on macs at work (academics often have a mac fetish) and it's okay, but has never struck me as 'great'

and for windows it's apparantly terrible.

ZombieLoffe> Great..

ZombieLoffe> Safari told me it "Couldn't find necessary
                    resources and should be reinstalled"
                    when I clicked "Back"

ZombieLoffe>        F5 -> it worked

ZombieLoffe> It crashed when I clicked the [ + ]

ZombieLoffe> Man, people must be idiots to use this.

Hmm...okay.

I think I won't download Safari after all then.

I love my FF anyway.

The anti-aliased fonts really bug me... especially since they don't even look good on Safari. Hell, the IE7 ones are better.

Safari was good but I just like Opera's "New tab" button and lack of sub-pixel font smoothing better.

I can't gauge memory usage as IE, Firefox, Opera, and Firefox all use between 8MB to 80MB. Speed on my system seems to go: Firefox 2.0.0.4 > Safari 3b > Opera 9.21 > IE7

ZombieLoffe: It's not anti-aliased. It's some shitty sub-pixel method that makes everything looks smooth, but gives every ltter a blue, green or red edges. Seizurific!

Hey satch, what's the harm in downloading and trying it? It's not going to compromise anything else.

My FF is at ~136MB, which is slightly worrying, but it has been open for a couple of days.

As for Safari, I don't think anyone can say it has any nice features. The only thing people may like it for is the Apple-ish UI, which is person choice. There aren't extensions, there aren't lots of built-in features. Safari as a browser is the bare minimum.

Shoot me for saying this, but I think if a non-tech-savvy person asked me for a general browser to browse with, I'd recommend IE7. Why complicate things with FF or Safari when IE7 is up to the job now? Only people who use computers frequently need worry about memory usage and extensions.

In my eye's opinion, only Firefox and Opera render things right. Maybe I'm just used to it, but all other browsers look funny.

My $0.02.

'cause we're geeks and he may have a different opinion on the browser? It's better to get to know something personally and make up your mind than to dismiss something just because of what some internet guy said.

How would you like it if I proclaimed that The Hinter is a cock and everyone on the chubes automatically assumed you were a large phallic poking device?

It may sound counter-intuitive, but I think it's stupid for anyone to blindly take my word for it when they can try it out themselves without any adverse effect.

FF is still more secure than IE (and I do believe faster), and just as simple to use. It's not like you have to bother with extensions unless you want to.

I've stuck with Firefox for awhile now, and all in all, it goes fast (enough for me) and it plays things smoothly... I don't see the point in a web browser that CLAIMS its better than all the rest (as far as speed), but has no features whatsoever... so if we managed to rig it with everything FF had, would it be faster then?

IE7... thats the original.... I use it OCCASIONALLY... but only because there is something I just absolutely CAN'T due with FF...

IE7 is definitely slower that FF... for God sake, I have to open up the browser, and the browser itself takes 5-9 seconds to load. Then it gets itself ready (so if i type in a site, it immediately dissappears when it's "ready" [even on a blank page])... yeah from there on its PRETTY much downhill... but as I said, it's only there to be the last resort...

IE7 takes ages to open up pages, while FF doesn't.

That's traded off with FF using a constant 33 Mb. Not a problem for better computers, though.
