hehe
well its not like I agree with emo lyrics or cry myself to sleep listening to it

*and Bloc Party is not emo
Posted 16 years ago2007-07-09 10:48:33 UTC Post #228088
Emo is a label by people who DON'T listen to the music, not those that do.

I am just your regular type person, can't be pigionholed, and certainly ain't what you'd define as 'emo.'! I pretty much like rock music across the board, from indie to classic to, yes, emo. Well some of it anyway. How emo would you say Dashboard Confessional were? :D

But then I'm in an indie band, and a punk band, so I play everything from +44 to Wolfmother, The Killers to Green Day

So am I emo for liking emo music? No, and neither is anyone else that listens to it.

It isn't homosexual, and it's not like I base my life around the lyrics of emo, or any genre for that matter.

And bloc party is really, REALLY NOT emo!!!

Now Listening to: The Monkeys.

I kid, I kid, this week's tune is Smokers Outside Hospital Doors by Editors

well, I would say more indie than pop, but whatever

Pop is common and repetitive; I don't know many bands that are like Bloc Party

EMO = Middle class rich kids who think it's cool to be depressed
Posted 16 years ago2007-07-09 11:22:47 UTC Post #228099
Man, Bloc Party is not indie at all, do you even know what indie is? Indie means that it's either an independent band that doesn't have a solid record contract (last time I checked, Bloc Party were being whored all over the world) or a band with a certain sound (that being a sort of mellow alternative rock, although associating indie with this sound is incredibly vague).

Bloc Party play generic pop rock, influenced by Radiohead and the like. It's a very British sound and it's incredibly boring.

If you want true indie music and some variety, then click and be saved.

heh, K I will when I get home,

btw, are you talking about the newest album, or all the older ones aswell, cos imo, the new album is more generic than the rest

Well now I know what Indie music is, some people learn somthing new everyday.

I dont get it about Emo people, I listen to a major variety of 70's-90's and some 2000-2007 songs, but what exactly do they listen to and when did they start, just doesnt really make scence. Somthing that makes them seem like retards is when they cut thier own wrists, WHY WOULD YOU HURT YOURSELF!, oh wait sorry, you want attention, its just pathetic at times what they do.

If you notice, Goths and Emos wear a simlar type of clothing, black, chains, etc, but its hard to tell which type they are, for me I rather prefer goth people since they have differnt personalitys, but Emo people are somtimes all about drama and attention, I know this cause I roller skate every week and see about 40 Goths/Emos.

I dont know what kind of a person you would consider me for the music I listen to, but never in hell will I be Emo.

The emo culture and the music are somewhat intrinsically linked, even without people realising it. It's all an offshoot from the original punk movement in Britain in the 80s. Since then, there's been gradual evolutions of the same shit.

It's all about being rebellious. Emos concern themselves with "emotions", which generally consist of "people don't understand me". And there's music (and fashion) to go with it. Of course, I'm over-generalising here, but bands such as My Chemical Romance and that crusade the emo music, which is basically a form of piss-weak punk music (count in Greenday and Blink 182 for good measure).

Like I said, I'm over-generalising here, but that's a general overview from the music perspective.

...no, instead I'm in a decade where music is so bad it's unbearable, and smoking is illegal all over.
