ok I think i may have it - if I made a monster_<w/e> and set its name to something like monspawn1 and then used a multi-manager target to monspawn1 value:5 it would make w/e that monster thing is there spawn in 5 seconds right? And to make it look a lil' better I could have a env_sprite with a smoke puff in the same place to make it look a little cooler!
