When i go to file>new, it pops up with something that says topic:valve hammer editor, and No textures are available for use with that game. U must set them up in the Textures tab of the options dialog box before u can edit maps for this game. ok, well..my game is cs steam, and in textures i have textures.wad, wut else do i need, can anyone help me?

Sound advice. You'll also need to use GCFScape to get the textures from Steam (it's like Winzip).

The tutorial you linked only covers setting up VHE for normal Half-Life, not Steam.

Sorry for double posting but I was so bored that I had to reply again, this time to advice PiNKY. Texture.wad isn't a real .wad file, or something and VHE puts it to the textures for no reason (as far as i know). Counter-Strikes textures are hidden in the Counter-Srike.gcf(Located in SteamSteamApps). To extract the wad files, you need a program capable of exploring GCF files (Like GCFScape(see Seventh's post)).

how do i work the gcfscape? and every time i try it, my comp like sort of dies...

Do you have the .NET framework? If you haven't, you should have got an error message when you started it. Did you?

Are you sure it dies--Maybe its just taking a while to load???

i think i need the .net framework, and i figured it will take 4ever to download...is anyone willing to help me out and send it on aim, or msn messenger? or mirc?

Downloading it from a site should certainly be quicker
