ok, im reading all these tutorials and im doing wut it says, but i cant find out where my cstrike.exe file is located. oh and..i use steam to play cs...well..im trying to do all my configurations and reading the tutorials. it says to locate my cstrike.exe. i even searched my c drive and still cant find a cstrike.exe. can someone help me find it? is it my steam or soemthing that it should be in?

sigh, i will answer you because im sure others wont - look in steam/steamapps/<user>/counterstrike (or cstrike i forget)/ - and look there for it. I wouldnt recomend using steam cause it sucks ass

I'm not actually sure that CS has an exe. Just put any ol' exe, it doesn't matter for compiling, then start your maps manually (see the tutorial if you don't know how, under Beginner).

I know this isn't much help, but someone else might find it useful,
If you have the stand alone retail version of Counter-Strike, the cstrike.exe is in the root of the Counter-Strike folder.

Use the CS u have installed. C: sierra / counter strike/cstrike. And when u make maps and compile them they will go there(if u set it to that) Then copy and paste the .bsp and any sounds of anything else u have to the STEAM cs. Steam/steamaps/UREMAIL/counterstrike/cstrike/....

i looked in the steam folder, every single one there is, also searched the cdrive for cstrike.exe and cstrike. nothing matched an .exe. C:SierraCounter-Strike, in there, there r 3 things: cstrike.dat file, not exe, install txt doc., and an unwise application which looks like a trashcan with stuff and a box outside. i cant find my cstrike.exe.

ok, now io finally found it...

i couldnt find it in the c drive, but for some reason i went to my start menu bar and went to games, then right clicked on cstrike and found the exe
