How do you add hostage rescue and buy zones to cs source hammer maps? I cant find a good tutorial.

For buyzones you want to make a block and texture it with the trigger texture. Then go to Tools, Tie to entity and select in the list: trigger_buyzone. Set it to CT or T and voila place where you want and resize where needed. Repeat for other team.

With hostages I'm not so sure...You place some hostage entities so I assume npc_hostage? Or something...And then I'm not so sure whether you place info_nodes for them to know where to walk...I think someone else can answer that.

I dont even think a worldspawn is an entity

Worldspawn is the entity which controls all the map's most basic properties. Skybox texture and stuff.

do you have an .fgd loaded?

if a worldspawn is the entity which controls all the maps most basic properties then he be selecting the map properties instead of the brushes properties. Correct me if im wrong.

I to lazy to open VHE but im pretty sure what Jokerboy said is correct.
But if you have the fgd and all that crap set up, then just make a box with the Trigger Texture, and when you have it selected, press (Alt) and (t). That will make it into a world object rather then a solid now, and then you only have to scroll through the list looking for somthing like Trigger_Rescue, or somthing along the lines of that name.

Still no luck but i think i found something out while trying to make a buy zone and encountered the same problem. The brushes seem to turn themselves into world spawn things when i try to use ctrl + t or if i try to do any other way. Im wondering if something could be wrong with how hammer is set up or installed..

This is for Source, right? Reset Game Configurations. Also, try hitting the "ToEntity" button on the right side of the screen instead of the keyboard shortcut. Should be able to right click the brush and hit Tie to Entity as well, iirc.

ctrl+t is for tieing an entity to a brush. So it ties the value that is set by default. You can change it to something else if you wish.
And i suggest you read some beginner tutorials, because it seems like you have no idea of what you are doing.

just make a brush where u want the buyzone, press ctrl+t and choose "func_buyzone" from the list then choose the team number to "counter terrorist" or "terrorist"
same as hostage rescue, only its called "func_hostage_rescue" i think.
much easier than tie to entity and worldmodel and all the stuff ur talking about:p
