Hey again!

Does anyone know the name of the audio effect where the sound is sorta played backwards while still being played forwards? It's like a sort of reversed echo.

I really need to know how to create this!

It's quite a ghostly effect, you hear it on some tv shows and movies.

Thanks in advance :)

EH?

Well you could create it simply by mixing two versions of the same sound.
One played forwards and one backwards.

And make the backward playing track echo.

Are you talking about flange?

I'm really not sure - not much of an audio person :)

Basically, the only way to describe it is a backwards echo effect. The echo is reversed - it doesn't come before the actual sound.

I hope you understand what I'm saying.

If you've played black and white - the audio effect some of the gods make when they talk.

Well, I would try this:

1. Make 2 copies of your sample, we'll call them A and B
2. Add echo to A
3. Reverse A - this makes C
4. Mix B with C

Does that do what you want?

So the sound is forwards, but just the echo itself is reversed? IE the echo plays before the sound, and not after?

How about reversing the sample, then adding echo to it, and then reversing it again? That way the echo would be in front instead of behind.

How about reversing the sample, then adding echo to it, and then reversing it again?
I can't believe it took that long for somebody to suggest that :P

Revers the sound, add echo or reverb, revers it again. And there you go!
