ugh ........... I think I will go for the noob option.....BIG BOX over the level . :(
Question : If I apply the null textures on all sides of that big box , it will still correct the leak , no ?

Is the entity in the void?

And yes, it will 'fix' the leak, but it's an incredibly bad thing to do.

just use the .lin file to find the leak........... goto map ---> load pointfile........ .................and when Hammer asks if you want to open mapname.prt , choose no and find the mapname.lin file instead.................... Now follow the line the from blue to red . with any luck , the line will take you straight to the hole ( or close to ) .........

I tried Tetsu's method and found the entity inside , I searched for a leak all that area , found nothing .
Muzzle flash I loaded the pointfile (lin , yes, and I know how to load it .) lots of time , there isn't a blue line , there's only a red line , and you can't trace the line , it's to hazardous !

What...? What the heck are you talking about?
there isn't a blue line
Yes there is, look better. The line begins blue, then slowly changes to red as you get closer to the leak.

sorry for my bad english

The line DOESN"T get from red to blue , I tell you !

It just goes from one fucking leak to another !!!! I'm going crazy , crazyeeee!I'm going to have a mental problem .

I'm using leak mark , it mark a non-existent leak , ...Then I cover the area in a hollow box (a small area ) , the compile => another leak . But I was fucking working 5 weeks on this map and there weren't any leaks therreeeeeee!!!

Has hammer gone crazyeeeeeeee????

That's not a mirrored floor .
Yes it is, but probably not in the way you're thinking about it. the left side is a mirror of the right side, and vice versa. You have to have two brushes making up that hallway floor for it to do that. You can see the distinct line down the middle where it's mirrored.

Also, barrel texture or not (which actually, it is), that still looks pretty poor, and there's a lot of better textures you could use for that scenario, so I see no reason why you'd use it.

Sorry muzzleflash . I'll keep searching until I find the leak .
I thought at a horrible scenario . Maybe I was oriented to the void (outside of the map) and accidentaly pushed the mouse button , and the entity option was selected . I think in that way , the entity exists somewhere in the void , but it can't be found , because it's outside the grid . Is this possible ? If yes , there might be a solution for my map . Copy the map , and paste it in a new rmf .

or.. you can be wrong and end up with 2 of the exact same maps with the exact same leak.
There are a few other ways of fixing leaks.
Try putting a box around the level, and fill the box (not inside the map itself) with loads of pink lights Really-eye burning pink lights. And walk around the inside of your map (flashlight helps) until you see pink, and you have your leak.

Or you can use the cordon tool to section off areas of your map to be compiled one at a time. That takes a bit of messing around to understand tho.

Can't do , max_patches is here !

Is there a way to increase the max_patches ? Because I know that you can increase the max_map_miptex . If there is , what's the command ?

Well , I tried my method of copy-paste. That didn't work :(

Just look at this. A leak in the map , INSIDE the map !! Wtf ?

Contact me via email or msn (if you have msn as well).

Replied.

The dome part is really badly made and i strongly recommend you delete it a go for a less complex shape thats much easier on the engine.

Details in the email.

Should I go for the arch entity ?

Oh , thanks on explaining me how to trace down the line in your email . Maybe we should keep in touch ;) (advantage for me :) )

How does your hammer crush ?! My hammer doesn't . It's 3.4 and not launched within steam .(I have steam now)

The line from red to blue doesn't appear in the 3D view !!!!!! X(

That's cause Hammer 3.4 doesn't show the pointfile in 3D view.
Updating to 3.5 is a must.

Clicky
It's called a "beta" there, but there hasn't been any updates since, so pretty much all HL mappers use it.

Ok MuzzleFlash thanks ....... oh...I'm back ! And I'm much more relaxed after a good holiday . Tomorrow I'll begin the search for that problem .

[EDIT] I'm now working on the new dome . You know , even the rmf got a lot more simple after this . Maybe the r_speeds will be reduced with 1000 wpoly ........:D

[Edit2] I think i'll upgrade to 3.5 ......

I strongly suggest using a batch compiler and running it on "estimate" and "high priotity" this way, windows will not deny the compile virtual memory when it runs low and estimate shows the tasks it is doing. eg, anti_reality had 22356 task to do on a full vis, I always knew it was going because it slowly did one after the other until it stopped on 15787 and sat there for 6 hours, I decided it had crashed.

Compiled with batch compiler .
Sven Co-Op or Half-life , which should I make this map for ? :D

I'm working to transform this map in a half-life map , somehow ......

I think I'll erase the dome .......maybe I'll build something else interesting to work out with the map .

For this map to be a half-life map ........I'll have lots of work , maybe to learn how to make scientists open doors , things like that .

And the map will take longer ...until it's finished ...
