Hey everyone,

I just tried to add displacement to a number of block faces and as soon as i started to modify, the rest of the block dissappear. So only the faces that i have selected remain. I can't get the rest of the block back unless i destroy all the texture i made...what is going on here?

This is the first practice map ive done so...I'd like this to work. If it's supposed to be this way fine but if it isn't, i could use a bit of help.

Any ideas?

Penguin,

I know how to make a displacement. The problem is the rest of the cube is missing after i finish creating it on the face.

hmm,

Wait a sec,

I read that page a couple times penguin. Is it true to say then about adding a displacment: If a face isn't modified it won't be visible? Only the modified faces of a cube will be visible after the displacement is done. Correct?

read better.
2. The 5 [other] faces disappear!
As said before, displacements can only be seen from one side.
you are not allowed non-displacement sides on a brush with displacements. want them all? make all six sides displacements.

A quote from the tutorial:
Click the 'Create' button (you still only have the top face of your brush selected) [...]
Click ok in the box and you will see two things happen:
1. Lines form on your top plane
2. The 5 NODRAW faces disappear!
Point 2 says it: The nodraw faces disappear. So that's normal.

Edit: Bit slow.

Edit 2: Welcome to the forum!

R1Co,

Thanks for the clarification. And yes, seeing that have just started using Hammer in the past 2 weeks, im a bit slow on the uptake...there will be some Q's from me that just might be ridiculous so bear with me. I will try not to ask to many.
