Did anyone see Cloverfield? Because i saw it last night with my girlfriend and her sister and i think it was one of the better movies i have seen lately.

It did, however leave me wanting more because there were so many unanswered questions.

-- :nuke: :nuke: Spoiler Warning :nuke: :nuke: --

Where did IT come from?
What happened to the rest of New york?
What exactly happens to people to make them explode after being bitten by the smaller creatures? (They looked like zerglings to me)

My thoughts are: The monster was always on earth. After seeing it's tail smash the bridge, it looks amazingly fish-like. It's face looks similar to that of deep-sea fish seen from those Discovery / National Geographic documentaries. It could be a prehistoric creature causing chaos in the deep seas as a possible sea monster for hundreds of thousands of years. And it just now decided to lash out against humanity.

Because there are so many unanswered questions, i thought it would be kinda cool to see peoples opinions who have seen the movie.

Of course this is TWHL so the massive truck of fail could possibly pay this thread a visit. Hopefully not because i was looking forward to this movie since i saw the teaser, and my experience was fantastic!

Oh and by the way, it's not godzilla. I Also lost $10 on a bet because of that.

This isn't out in the UK cinemas until 2.1.08 but it was so obvious that it wouldn't be Godzilla. :nya:

Serves you right for making a dumb bet like that.

Heard a lot of good things about this movie. I assume its not about Cthulu like a lot of people thought as well :P

Me and my friends had a blast at this one.

SPOILER ALERT:

Tetsu0, many people are saying that at on point to the right of the screen looking over the ocean you clearly see a large object fall from the sky and land in the ocean. That might of been him. Also, did you stay after the credits? You pretty clearly hear a whisper, and i'll try to find the clip again but played backwards it clearly says "it's still alive". My thoughts are, Rob and Beth survived, monster survived, and we'll be seeing a sequel. This IS JJ Abrams we're talking about here.

The Bad Robot logo is the only thing that doesn't suck in the trailer.

Heh, went to see it yesterday, not with the best expectations either.

SPOILERS:

I thought it was quite good up into I realised that absolutely everyone was going to die, you wouldn't see the monster get what it deserves in the end, and that there's absolutely no pay off for sitting through it all. Not a great movie, but great entertainment.. up until the final ~20 mins.

3/5.

Blitz, which scene is that? The falling to the ocean thing?
Maybe that's what caused the initial earthquake then?

I'm not sure, I didn't see it. I'm going again next weekend and keeping my eyes peeled. That might have been it.

I thought that's when the first quake was, was when they were all inside. I'm not sure if that's when the splash was. I'll look it up.

Oh, got it.

It was in the Coney Island footage that they were taping over. So i guess it was towards the end of the movie, when we are seeing the tape that is being taped over and on the right side of the screen something falls there is a pretty large splash out in the ocean.

If that was the monster, he was hanging out under water for a little while. I forget when they said Rob and Beth slept together, it was a week maybe?

I've read that it ISN'T the monster falling to earth, it's a satellite. The monster is supposed to be an infant creature that's been lying dormant at the bottom of the ocean for god knows how long.

The company Rob is going off to work with mines and explores the deep sea for something called 'deep sea nectar' which they use in their drink "Slusho". Something happens, awakens the monster, pulls in the satellite and shit hits the fan.

Quite frankly all of what i've read of the backstory is totally messed up. That's the problem with viral marketing though, it.. gets out of hand.

EDIT:

BIG SPOILER
Here's the supposedly official concept art for the monstie:
