i wonder if it is so that pushables in elevators causes problems?

i just started making a new singleplayer map, or maps, i dont have any goal right now, i will figure something out later!! but the thing is one puzzle in the map is following:

1. the player have to go to third level in a building, but elevator is broken and cant go to third (just no path to third hehe)

2. so the player will go to second floor, and find a room with boxes and barrels

3. from there, the player sends the elevator down to the bottom and begins to stack up with boxes and barrels until it reaches up to the second floor.

4. then the player jumps aboard the boxes and presses the elevator button and SUCCESS the player is on the third floor.

the problem is, that the elevator just cant lift all the barrels, and sometimes they even get stuck in mid air!!

so, now i winder if i should give up this puzzle or rather get a hint how to do it properly wihtout errors.

Elevators and other moving entities interacting with pushables or NPCs = pretty buggered up in GldSrc. You'll most likely experience various glitches when trying to make a puzzle like that (not a bad idea btw).
I think Spirit's improved things a bit in that department, so you may want to try it out.

Be aware the Spirit of Half-Life is a whole separate mod and you will not be able to play any maps made with spirit in the vanilla Half-Life.

I found that HL can lift 1 just fine, its when the player or another pushable is stacked up it doesn't seem to work. Like the elevator will push up on only 1 but not a dozen.

Using spirit, it is possible to enable a 'Movewith' to tag the extra boxes and junk to the elevator so they act as together better. I don't know the details but its completely possible in Spirit.

If you make a minimod, we'd be glad to play it :D

I think rim's right there, i have never really experimented in Spirit or vanilla GldSource with pushables. I like your idea though, creative way to solve puzzle's so if you would pack it up as a mod then i would be glad to play it :D

okay, it seems to be a problem.

anyway, i actually had a back-up plan.

i will put it up but i wont say just exactly how its supposed to be figured out yet, but its not that hard to find out i think, hehe.

back soon with it.
