I am usually not an alarmist, but seeing on what is about to happen to the southern U.S. in the next 48 hours, it can't be helped. New Orleans, lived there once for about 8 weeks around 10 years ago, very vibrant city with some of the best restaurants known to man. I feel sorry for what's about to happen to that city, considering that it's still recovering from Katrina's assault 3 years ago. Right now hurricane Gustav is a category 4, but by the time it gets to the Big Easy, it could be a deadly category 5. It does not look good.....

Hm, that looks pretty massive.
I got caught in Hurricane Floyd back in 1999 when I was holidaying in Orlando. First time they ever shut down Disney World. It ended up turning away from us and doing no damage to Florida but we still had to stay inside all day due to massive winds and epic rain.
Also, Gustav? wtf kind of hurricane name is that?

I believe they named them to the alphabet, starting with an A, then a name with a B etc. So Gustav would be 7th hurricane in that area.

I wonder what would happen if they would run out of names.Actually, that did happen once already, I think it was during the 2004 or 2005 hurricane season. If I remember correctly, they went on to use the national alphabetical call signs like this: Alpha, Bravo, Charley, Delta and so forth to name the storms.
Also, Hanna right now seems to be just about getting ready to be a full blown hurricane. As of 1:00 PM east coast time, it's right above Haiti and the Dominican Republic, and man, it looks freak'en huge, maybe even bigger than Gustav! I suspect if it happens a few more times, people would forget the lesson learned from Katrina and start to stay put with the next hurricane.
