Double posting is annoying. This web site has the wrong idea about double posting. double posting means somebody posting the same thing twice. on site you say if the same person says two different things on different posts. THAT'S NOT DOUBLE POSTING! I don't want to get suspended but I mean this is not right. all these people saying "Don't Double Post!" I'm not double posting. So I'm with you about double posting but I don't double post. So please stop accusing people of something they're not doing.

no you see youve got it wrong. double posting is when you post twice in a row instead of just clicking an edit button. you fail

crazyb2000: There is absolutely NO need to double post when we have this fully functional edit button going on. Cutting down on double posting is for the sake of the community - to inspire proper posting and behaviour standards. It's that simple.

We won't strike or threaten anybody who double posts, unless it is obviously spam, but it just boils down to having common sense and courtesy.

I just like to add something that I myself was curious about: when you edit your post, the last post time will be updated to the last time you edited a post. So, editing a post essentially has the same effect as posting another comment, so don't worry about edits not getting noticed.

One more note: personally I believe it's a good thing to clearly mark edits. Something like 'EDIT:' in front of it should do.

EDIT: As for double posting, it's merely a definition issue. Your definition differs from ours, but what matters is that in this community, posting twice in a row is frowned upon, same content or not.
