The default rookie mappers problem . Wait a second , I verify my map and when I build something I'm careful not to cause a leak , and the compiler still fucks my map .

I'm working at my compo , and that's why I need your help. My map is growing, and leaks appear mysteriously . But they don't appear near the last area I built , they appear in the first sections of the map , sections that passed through more than 15 compiles with brio . Using leakmarker, I saw leaks even in the first chamber of the map . If I put a big cube to cover that room, the leak disappears.

Why do leaks appear in sections of the map that don't have problems ?!

Try loading the pointfile (*.lin).

There's no reason to call him a n00b. Don't do it again.

It's harder to watch a line that goes in hundreds of directions than using leak marker, BUT ...
From your response I can tell several things about you :

1.You didn't read my post correctly.I said that I put a block where leakmarker indicated a leak , and the leak disappeared.
2.You do not have a troll license. You're busted
3.You didn't help me in any way ... :thefinger: :rly:

Maybe I'm crazy, but I've never found the point files too helpful.
The last time I had a leak that I couldn't find, I used the skybox light method.

Surround your map with a hollow skybox and toss in an odd colored light_environment (say purple or pink. Anything that will show up easily). Now when you load your map, the leak should be easily recognized by this light pouring into it.

Skals, stop with the noob-throwing. Telling him what he's doing wrong will suffice.

fine. ok striker. this is what you do if you have a leak in your map. instead of using some program to find a leak, do this. click map -> load pointfile and then sellect the .lin file that has your maps name in it.

when you do so you will have only ONE line in your map. follow it. every time it goes trough a wall , there is an obvious leak there.

also sometimes entitys cause leaks. if they are outside your map, or even if half of the entity is outside your map, it can still cause a leak. so make sure no entitys touch the outside of the map, or are outside of the map.

edit: it still is easier to do it with the .lin file. you dont have to compile and then search for it in your map. the engine does it for you.

I'm actually with Skals on this one. The .lin-file is the fastest and easiest way to find a leak, it has never failed me.

It failed me a month ago. It didn't help a shit. That skybox method light sounds useful.

Then you don't know how to use it properly.
