NOOOOOOO! Don't give them ideas! They'll take even longer!
lol.

I really suppose they analyze every aspect of our compos. First of all I just want to tell you I'm not crazy to find if I won because my compo medium quality and I saw very good quality compos posted anyway.

Assuming you're analyzing every aspect of our maps, you shouldn't forget to see what chemistry is involved in the different processes of industrial areas in our maps. You should definitely look after information on Google or Wikipedia too see if our ideas are physically possible or not. If they aren't, what SF films would they assemble ?
You should study some artistic guides or plastic art books and learn more about color to see how our lightnings are. If they are good or not.
Calculating distance from one point to another is also important, that way you can discover the dynamics of our levels.
Not talking about sounds and texturing .

So yeah, judging a competition is hard-work.

Well... I could say whats keeping them but I'm not at liberty to say. I can say that they have a very good reason for taking so long, and it is not their fault.

Patience, find something else to do in the mean-time.

Actually, the reason they're taking so long is because they haven't actually started yet. Life can be a bitch like that sometimes.

Or it sounds like it from their reasons for not judging.

Just hang in there, Grim's had problems with accessing some of his Steam games. Haven't gotten in touch with him yet, though he should've had them resolved by now and played through all the entries.

Stay tuned, we should be done very soon.

You know, as busy as you judges may be or pretend to be the results should be in much faster. I mean, it's kinda a shame somebody who puts hours into his compo-map whenever he can just so he can make that damn deadline has to wait fucking weeks to get a result. Perhaps it's an idea that the judges plan a certain time they actually judge the thing, and set the deadline to that judgement. Or even better, let the community decide who wins - like they do over @ interlopers. I might come across a bit rude but sjeesh cmon... this isn't very supportive of the already not much activity we have here.

I'm sorry, but us mods and admins have lives. Full-time jobs, uni, part-time jobs, families, friends, complications, timezones. Most of my own posting occurs during breaks at work, by the time I get home the other half of TWHL's management are either just going to sleep or just waking up.

Anybody who enters these competitions for the right reasons would mind waiting 'fucking weeks'. Anybody who doesn't will rant and rave. These are the big competitions, not everday challenges. We've had users do their own little map challenges and they're welcome to keep those up. I really wish you wouldn't just pop into TWHL randomly to rant about how much we suck at our jobs, even though every second we put into TWHL is volunteered time.

I'd say penisjuice has about 5 minutes before he's banned, given he registered 1 day ago and is linking pornography websites.

Goodbye, penisjuice. You will not be missed.

Regretfully, results look like they'll be up tomorrow.

Timezone differences strike yet again.

It "SHOULD" be up tomorrow, and sorry for the delay.

I fully understand that and I appreciate all the freetime you put into this site. But if you are so busy, then don't judge a compo. All i'm sayin'
I really wish you wouldn't just pop into TWHL randomly to rant about how much we suck at our jobs, even though every second we put into TWHL is volunteered time.
I also am a busy man atm, so I can't visit TWHL everyday hence the 'popping' in. Next to that, there isn't always that much to post for besides giving some critique here 'n there to make this site better. Don't get me wrong, I might come across a bit rude due poorly maken wordchoice... but you know me strideh; I mean no harm! :crowbar:

The single solution to all these discussions is that the admins should make a big paypal donations banner right under the either/or banner .

Donate and we will have a bigger TWHL with more features and with more active admins !

Well that was just a stupid idea , but trust me it's good.

And if I were to judge the entries, to be honest, I wouldn't have the time too. Maybe only until 20 dec. Being a student is hard...

Are you kidding! We should pay these people LOTS of money, so they can take off with it and buy fancy webcode, spend more time on the net, lose their jobs because they are not at work so often, and then we have to support them for the rest of their lives. LOL. That, and i can't give you money, i don't have/want a credit card or paypal-usable account

Also, I'm not here very often, I work full time, study part time, map alot of free time and no internet at home, hence my very limited TWHL contact.

And I forgive you for being late, I understand how hard the simplest things can be (aged care work teaches you much, young grasshopper). Reviews can be quite daunting to write, i've tried to do a few large ones but I just end up babbling on.

Also, I will not paint anyones house red. I will choose green and pink polkadots! :plastered:

Hay I've almost finsihed my map for the compo.... are we still accepting submissions for the map a puzzle compo? It's still Oct 28th in my timezone. I swear.
Posted 16 years ago2008-12-13 05:50:42 UTC Post #259870
lol that would be funny to accept submissions right up until the day of judging/results. It would actually be interesting to see how it affected the number of submissions, actually.

Like for example, if all the judging was done but someone new submitted, you/d have to add that into the mix and hope to release the new results before someone else submitted a new one, lol.

Not true I think we should try it. I think it would light a fire for mappers and judges both to finish up because the final deadline would be "fuzzy".

Besides, I don't see how anything could possibly make the results take longer than they do already... i just don't think that's possible! = )

Please doon't smite/strike me Strider/penqy! i love you...

Contributors: always ask for extensions of contests so they can get their map done while they go to university

Judges: always are late getting entries judged because they are going to university

Contributors: get mad because their entries aren't judged in time.

Judges: promise an answer 'very soon'

Website: gets lots of extra hits due to people looking for a winner's list.
