1. Why the hell do you have a desktop of your own work?
2. I don't really see the point in changing desktops much... I got the same desktop for over a year now. It's not like you stare down your desktop.

Perhaps it's the visuals that are captivating me for now. I don't really mind the chores, as long as I get to walk around and enjoy the weather, the change of scenery, and the nice sound effects.
I have never been to Africa, so this is my poorman's trip there.
I spend most of my time staring at the shadows on the wall and the elapse of time. In fact, I woke up at 4 am in the morning and just stood in front of a shack and watched the sun set (I guess it's 6:30 pm Africa time in the game).

Is it just me or is far cry 2 an incredibly bad game?I would say, that Far Cry 2's pretty much, what I missed from Crysis. The gameplay is in fact repetitive, the story is almost non-existant and uninteresting, but like satch, I loved to just go around, watching the sun set, listening to the surroundings, explore (although there isn't much to explore besides diamonds and guard posts) and just to shoot anyone that moves.

It is amazing, but I feel like I missed a lot because I skipped a large part of the main quest, because I explored the wasteland and found the hidden <SPOILER> long before I should have.

far cry 2 is lovely in short doses.Well, I guess that's the perfect game for me then.
I only have about two hours a week to play FarCry 2, so the gameplay doesn't become tedious.
It will probably take me six months to finish FarCry 2 at this rate, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. FarCry 2 came free with my new graphics card (the EVGA GTX 260), so it's just an added bonus to my nice hardware.

yeah i agree but like havin stuff right at my fingertips with minimal folder clicking. the whole right side is system maintenance related stuff which i use alot. the top is my main bar with programs i use on a regular basis(mostly} and the left is all "to do" overflow.
i usually don't have so much crap showing on the desktop itself, but i've gotten messy and distracted lately = )

I have shortcut keys assigned to every single program on my computer. I have memorized them all. It's much more efficient and faster to start programs that way, compared to using the mouse to click around.
You gotta admit. The DOS command line is powerful, and its power lies in the fact that all commands are available at your fingertips. No menu navigation or mousing around is necessary.

Plus, GNOME seems to have done a way better job than Vista of providing a simple, coherent, and attractive UI. It's got all the usability benefits of a Mac, without actually having to use one of those horrid things.

Linux updates in "real time" by calling information on demand instead of caching, like Windows, which requires things like system restarts. In some ways, its less prone to crashes and such because of this. m0p could probably explain it better than me, though.
It also doesn't have as many security issues, but that's just because so few people use it.
