After a month of being hospitalized I am back!

It started in early december, where I was throwing up alot, I went to the hospital 5 times each time they kept blowing me of pretty much stating that I have a nasal infection, but it got worse. After Christmas When we went to see them for the last time it was a saturday the doctor said I can finnally get a cat scan on Monday when they are in... Unfortunitly I never made it to Monday.

Sunday night I guess my girfriends father carried me down a flight of stairs and to the hospital, where they called in a doctor to give me a catscan.

It was funny I guess, fuckin' nurse let a lady with what appearred to be a cold go first, I guess ambers dad almost took a fit, lol. I was totally incoherent at the time.

Once the results came back, they found out that I had a tumour the size of a tennis ball in the back of my skull which was putting pressure on my spine. This happened on PEI. They wanted to airlift me by Helicopter (dammit!) but I guess it was to foggy (fuck sakes!) So they took me by ambulance to the Halifax Nero Surgeons Hospital which is 3 hours away. They actually cut me open in the ambulance to drain and releive the pressure on my head They told my girlfriend not to be in the ambulance just in case I died along the way. Which I think was smart. Can't remember it anyway lol. All the doctors looked at me like I am some kind of walking miracle.

My parents live on the other side of Canada so they arrived about 2 weeks later from gathering funds for plane tickets.
I had tubes everywhere.. lol. They told amber that I'd be a vegetable most likely for the rest of my life.. Like that was going to happen.. :P

So Radiation starts today at 1, for 25 sessions, excludong Sat. Sun. So little over a month.. Then I may have to start Kemo, which I dont mind,
did you guys know its a drug? Neat eh?
Anyways so thats pretty much where I have been for the last month and a half.. Sick. But I'm back now feeling great! BTW Heres a picture of my scar from the back.. bar fight, eh :P

Wowzers, you see this kind of drama on TV but you never expect it to happen to friends and family etc.

At least you're well now. (Got any pics of the tumour?)

P.S. You posted that tatoo before, I'm sure.

Its just like House :zomg:

The size of a tennis ball? That's pretty amazing. Glad to hear that everything so far is OK. I'm also wondering if they know why the tumor was there. Keep us posted if you can. I wish you the best of luck.
A friend of mine had leg marrow cancer a few years ago and was on chemo for about a year. The movies apparently don't lie-- you go totally bald during chemo.

I challenge you to yell "PILLS HERE!" when they hand you your drugs.

I am truly surprised that you can laugh about it now.

A tumor is serious as hell, but the way you feel is making me see that you should be okay.

Good luck with therapy, as I'm sure it will be tough.

Chemotherapy sucks (depends what drugs they use though), be prepared to either vomit uncontrollably or at least feel like you're going to. You'll be wishing you had been put back on radiotherapy after going through chemo, but if you've gotta go through it, just make sure they give you some anti-nausea pills (if you can keep them down).

Good to hear you're ok though! Good luck with your treatment, but you'll think differently about chemo after you've been through it yourself, it's not very pleasant :[

Yo, 1 thing. Dont think kemo is going to be easy. I think the doctors told you what kemo does with your cells. At least, I hope that they do that. But its not a fun thing to do. I got a sister who died from cancer. And its because her body was to weak for the kemo (she was 8).

I almost think its a joke because of this:
Then I may have to start Kemo, which I dont mind,
did you guys know its a drug? Neat eh?
Neat? Maby your like w/e I dont care to die. But trust me kemo is a hard time. And its not fun for you AND all yours friends & familiy. Its more like a hell, for me it was. I could handle it and I was almost dismissed from school. Because of aggersive behavoir.

Just think about it, and dont take it so cool

He most likely uses his somewhat sarcastic approach as a defensive mechanic in order to handle with it. Different people, different ways - seems pretty valid. I mean, just because it's hell, doesn't mean you should make it hell. All i'm sayin'. :\

Glad to hear you're alright :) A tumour the size of a tennisball is massive, especially if it's located in the head. I'm amazed they didn't discover it the first 5 times. Oh well, that's doctors, a lot of them seem to just want to prescribe something and get it over with.

Holy fecal matter! I'm glad you're able to post again.

You can't take it too seriously. It's a defense mechanism in dealing with a horrific situation. But oftentimes we all need to make fun of ourselves to keep our sanity.

Congratulation on surviving the whole ordeal. How many medkits did they have to use to revive you?

Darn doctors did the same thing to a TAFE classmate of mine. He was having massive headaches so he went to the hospital with his wife but they said he was fine and gave him painkillers. The next day, he was acting like he was drunk, slurry speech, poor balance, so his wife took him back to the doctors but again, they said he was fine and gave him some different pills. His wife was so angry she took him straight to Perth (a 175km drive) where the doctors found a clot on the back of his neck that was causing a buildup of fluids in his brain which put pressure on it. He underwent immediate surgery to releive the pressure and survived but he had to walk around with a AB drip in his arm for a week. The doctors said if his wife hadn't demanded a second opinion he would have been dead by next morning. Just goes to show, sometimes we know better than doctors.

Indeed your are. Plus, that scar is tough and gives you automatic "badass" status with the ladies. ^_^

Hell, after going through something like this in your life, you truly are a badass. I cry and think it's the end of the world when my laptop got stolen, but after reading your account it reminds me how unimportant things like that are really are. In a word: Perspective.
