Ok.

I just tried compiling a map under Vista using my Compilator. But for some reason, Vista doesn't allow other applications to creates files such, as bat files, log files, and all that, since Vista is asking you for permission when you create a new file in Vista itself.
The same thing happends when i use the built in Hammer compiler. No files are generated because of the tight security level, resulting in files not found errors.

Is there any way to turn that permission bullshit off? I know it works fine for Captain Terror, file are generated normally, but here, it doesn't.

I hope it makes sense.

Format Vista and reinstall windows Xp. Or wait for Windows 7 . Anyway , after windows 7 appears , I don't think you have to concern about releasing a stable compilator version for vista

First thing you need to do when you get vista is disable User Account Control. (UAC)

Go to control panel and search UAC in the top right search bar.

Disable that, and Vista becomes SO much less annoying and can actually be considered a usable OS.

Hunteh got it right. When Vista is new, it assumes you don't actually want to do the things you want to do, like compile or install programs such as Steam.

So it doesn't let you.

UAC is so annoying. Instead of actually programming in some decent kernel-level security, MS decided to make Vista ask you about every minute little thing you do. Like any typical computer-illiterate user is gonna know anything about what to allow and what not to.

Better yet, it should have a Stupid User option that warns people not to open that "hotcousin.jpg.exe" file they just downloaded from the random email that they don't even know who sent.

Even better, MS should block idiot network admins from disabling security updates. That alone would greatly reduce the effectiveness of botnets and viruses out there.

I wish xp could utilize all my ram, i'd switch back in a heartbeat...(still might i dunno)

Yeah and it's x64 too... as previously mentioned, Compilator (and Nem's) won't work for me unless i'm running "as administrator".

how is your backward compatibility for windows 7? worse than vista?

It says that Windows 7( as I know ... "Vienna" ) will need half of the ram vista used to need . About 512 mb of ram. I think Microsoft worked hard on this update, that's why it's not a service pack, but a brand new OS .

They want your money, that's why it's not a service pack, but a brand new OS.

EDIT: Also, daub, since nobody has given you a 123 process here it is: take harddrive and throw out window, grab vista cd and case and throw out window, buy new hdd and install anything else, 7, xp, anything.
