Can hostages climb ladders? If you are rescuing hostages, can they follow you if you go up or down a ladder?

Not really, afaik only bots know how to use ladders, hosties are coded far to simple to know how.
(eg, if you say "cover me" your teammates will be able to get to you halfway across the map, however hostages simply walk in your general direction, they can't go past detours like your teammates)

If I remember correctly, CZ hostages can climb ladders and crawl. But they definitely can't do it in 1.6.

If I don't remember wrong, when you climb a ladder, the hostages jump up the whole distance (or jump down if down is where you were going). And they couldn't crawl for their lives

yeah. So long as you're not Ascending they'll follow you.

I'm almost certain I've seen them jump great heights.
