Uh, why? Source SDK.

Speaking of which, what engine should be the standard? I assume most modders have the Orange Box by now? Or should we stick to the standard SDK base?

Also, I think custom materials/sounds/models etc. should go in subfolders such as "rooms_username" (eg. models/rooms_strider) for ease when it comes to compiling the whole mod together, at the end.

Someone will need to draft up a list of regulations and requirements for each room. 2D skyboxes? Global lighting? Environment effects? etc. There needs to be limitations. I'm not well-versed enough in Source mapping to make the list, I've no clue what kind of global variables there are to be concerned.

If anybody uses different skybox materials, lighting etc. we can just link it via a changelevel, the same way as the GoldSource one.

Time limit is a bit constricting, at least at this point.

Yeah, a time limit isn't a good idea for a mod. A compo, yes, but not a mod.

Yes, I don't like putting a time limit on it either.
Aside from not being some sort of competition, I also remember that several of the original rooms were added much, much later. It'd be a shame to exclude a new guy-- or someone who was just uninformed-- because of a deadline.

That assumes that the time limit would be relatively short, that is.

I can't submit because it won't compile!!! Because, all the tools on windows7 work for CRAP!! GGRRRRRR-MEOWNYOROWR!
oh yes, the lady at gamestop told me any usb keyboard would work.. so i just picked a cheap-o one up for 15 bones.

The rooms map isn't done yet.. it has a max clipnode error (easily solved, i'll have to cover all the non-play area in clips again)

Like Captain Terror said, at some point at least. Not now, but after a lot of things are clarified and we have quite a lot of submissions, there should be a deadline.
And this is not for us, it's for the person who puts all the rooms together. It's more convenient for him.

Nope! I've only ever made one source room in my life, and i have a couple more in the works.. Someone with WAY more experience than me with the source engine should run the show...

That said, i think the person who DOES end up heading this, should structure it so you personally have as little work to do as possible. (cuz your gonna have your hands full in the end, compiling, debugging, and playtesting..
