Just watched "I love you, Man".

Fairly humorous. I laughed.

I enjoyed shutter island, but it really was kind of a "cheap" brainfuck. A large part of the it was in the fact that they showed us what he thought he was seeing. Its hard to tell what exists or doesn't in that context. :P

Great movie though.

I saw "Precious", a movie about incest and its devastating effect. It's s gritty film, but it ended with a hopeful note.

its actually about incest? I just remember seeing the commercials and thought it was about some ugly fat chick.

Or is there a joke here I'm not getting...
Posted 13 years ago2010-11-22 02:07:34 UTC Post #287172
No joke. The movie is gritty and real. It's tough to watch, but I still recommend it.

Inception.

If you could watch that and not say it was a epic brainfuck, then you obviously didn't watch it.

I expect you to realize there are children on this forum. That film can badly influence the psychic of a child. So you can't recommend it to everyone :).

Sorry, had to make fun of that. Still, that's what ratings are for. Not that anyone cares about them.

Sorry, that's one of the terms in English I never know exactly about it. Every translator though gives me this "psychic" word, which I'm almost sure is not the right term. So, what is it anyway?

Watched The Last Airbender... its a kids movie. Top notch high end effects and set design, but acting was not convincing and dialog was toilet. It was still entertaining though and I do want to see the next chapter.

I watched it, I think they screwed it up just like Eragon. They just flew through the entire story only showing the cool bits and that was it. Not that I watch the last airbender cartoon, but It just gave me the same effect.

You should watch the cartoon. It starts at least a little slow, but its one of my more favorite series to date. The setting is great and the stories are well done.

Naturally after the cartoon I couldn't stand more than 15 minutes of the movie. The movie's simply awful, and M. Night Shamalamadingdong should be ashamed. -_-'

The cartoon is absolutely fantastic, M. Night murdered it in cold blood.

That's not even an opinion really. >_>
Posted 13 years ago2010-11-22 19:17:02 UTC Post #287192
@Skals: As someone who liked the Eragon book, the movie was definitely the worst I had seen that year (whenever it came out). I haven't seen the Airbender movie (or the series), but I've heard it's basically the same deal (fans of the series hate the movie). Also, M. Night sucks!

Despicable Me

It was more kiddy-friendly than I'd hoped, with very little appeal for an older audience (think about how Pixar movies are done, people). A lot of the jokes were just rehashes of overused kiddy humor, so the dialogue was largely disappointing. Character development was also lacking.
But it struck gold on cuteness and clever use of spontaneity.

Meh, not quite as good as I'd hoped but still a fun movie.

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas

I almost cried. I really have no words. The film just slapped my soul, I feel really bad for what happened. Shit, history is nothing compared to watching these films. What if the leaders of this world would have the innocence of these children. Ah, painful world...

Also, a comment on the young actor. His eyes are incredible. Everybody tells me what beautiful blue eyes I have but... they're nothing compared to his.

Ip Man
Saw this one at a small university movie night club.
I don't pretend to be well-versed in kung fu movies, but as far as I could tell this movie was pretty great. The cinematography was gorgeous and the fight scenes were mostly jaw-droppingly awesome [and fucking brutal] without seeming over the top [mostly]. The plot and characters, though loosely based on real events, were also surprisingly, pleasantly engrossing.

I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

Edit: Oi! I also saw True Grit several weeks ago.

It wasn't quite what I expected, but a great movie by it's own merits. It's a lot more funny/witty, and a lot less badass than what trailers might lead. Truly, this is another movie driven by dialogue.
It also stars Lebowski.

This is not about a last movie that I saw( which was The Hangover and Donnie Darko), but rather a list of great films that are coming up this year:

The 2011 Film list

And the first I want to see is Sanctum, which was already released in 4th February. It's a James Cameron film, I expect it to be cool.
